Thought so! Sterling May now get the rave reviews he craves? Also the saying that the new Chelsea owners mean business is laughable?! Signing two players the champions of England will let go?
It’s only a decade or so since we were overpaying for their unwanted squad men like Ben Haim and Bridge, how times change

Didn't Chelsea sell Hazard for 130M with one yr left on his contract ?
Tbf I think that's the straw that broke the camels back

Was a stupid amount of money and Real got burnt

Also that was Pre-covid

Mane is one of the best attackers in the world and went for £27mil

Players have seen the benefits of free transfers, massive signing fees and bigger wages...so naturally clubs have less power and will take what they can get rather than let players leave on a free

That was four years ago, talk about revisionism ! The last 3 yeats he's been average at best. I'll give you the Southampton winner and the mis hit away at Bournemouth but can we subtract the open goal misses in so many crucial games, e.g. Lyon in the CL, Liverpool in the 2016 final, Burnley, etc, etc. As for the winning more points than anybody in that title season you must be joking. It was the likes of Silva, KDB, Bernardo,Gundo, etc who literally laid those goals on plate for him. He didn't win us the league, just made a contribution, but not as big as those mentioned.Name a single game over the years he has been with us when he won us a big game v a top six side with a great goal out of nothing or creation for others.Theres no need to be personal just because others disagree with you ! As I said, he's been good player for us and I agree re his posional sense but personally I'm glad he's gone and think we will be better without him, if you don't mind me giving my opinion !
Good post

Speaking the truth should be allowed without being labelled as someone slagging the fella off

Wayne Bridge should never be mentioned on this site.
Absolute car crash of a transfer.
Then having to pay 90 grand of the 100 grand he was on a week just to get him out and down to Brighton.
By that time he had just become a groupie for his missus Frankie.
But I see what you are saying we were very nieve back then

Sterling has been a great servant for the club and he should leave with everyones best wishes......scored a lot of goals and on numerous occasions has dug us out of holes and got us important points.

he is clearly ambitious and knows is own mind and what path he wants to take and you have to admire that.

He will do well at Chelski and improves them....he adds so much more than the likes of a lot of their other attacking players.

What i do find amusing is suddenly in the media who have spent years and years slagging the lad off he is now "underrated" and chelsea "appreciate the true value of him as he will be given more responsibility.....what more responsibility? He was a major player in all our league wins?.....skysports news are jokers and the biggest hypocrits out there.....

Absolutely this.
I was half expecting them to tell us is real middle name is Messi.
Sly sports is just the propaganda branch of the big Red Yank war machine that as invaded the Premier league

Sums him up perfectly in that he was frustrating as fuck most of the time, especially last season.

He had gone stale and it’s a great move for him and the club.
Stale is an apt description...

Good point.

I watched the city all or nothing again a few weeks ago……had a little chuckle at the bit where pep and arteta are talking about a Sterling miss……kind of dis believing and conspiratorial, like wtf how did he miss….I wonder whether this type of pressure was a bit too much for the lad at times and led to some very mediocre performances.
When one misses some of the sitters Sterling has missed what other response but disbelief is there?

Always hurts to see a long serving player leave, but good luck to him and wish him the best.

A quiet and hardworking lad that doesn't deserve the stick the media gave him. Sometimes frustrating and sometimes fantastic. Despite the frustrating parts, he will leave our club having put up some great numbers over the years and join a new club as a true winner.

Will always love him for what he has done and achieved with us.
