Dont agree on the need to replace Sterling with Jesus also leaving as well: Mahrez, Palmer, Grealish. all very similar players (with differing levels of quality)...Bernardo and Foden also very similar

I really don't think that we paid £100m for Pep to use Grealish as a 'second string' player. I would think (barring injury etc) Pep will use him more often in the PL next session than Bernardo.

I also think that Alvarez is likely play a greater part than Mahrez in the PL.

An interesting season ahead for sure!

Except that Bernardo is twice the player Grealish is at present...

I am not totally against bringing an extra player however we still have 3 quality players at CB and there isn't a desperate need for a replacement. The problem is convincing a player with real quality to join us this season.

Losing 4 centre backs at the same time was a freakish turn of events. It would be the same if we lose both keepers at the same time and have to rely on Scott Carson or an in experienced kid for a long period of time.

Couple of years ago a rodri Fernandinho cb partnership too. Doesn’t have to be a world beater, but half decent cover who can help to step in. Unlike defensive midfielders

But again the hardest part is finding one. I wouldn't be shocked if after we have signed Cucarella (or alternative) we are done. I am not insinutating that we aren't looking for one.

B. we had 3 fullbacks and a freak situation where 2 of them were out, so one of the CB's had to play FB.

this season we are getting more cover at fullback, we have more a much better DM than last year fernandinho in phillips who could cover in that position needs be.

By all means replace ake but don't pretend like if things go as planned we're not gonna have a disgruntled CB who doesn't get playtime.

Stones is always on and off with injuries, Dias with a couple of problems last year and that’s without considering possible suspensions and the sheer number of games we will play. It very nearly cost us the league last year having to play Fernandinho and that’s with 4 very good defenders, anyone happy going in with 3 I can only admire their optimism and confidence.

Pau Torres would be decent but not many are really keen on that option and he is still part of Spain's national team.

City will probably use 3 at the back more often next season too. It won’t be hard to convince a top cb to come in. City have Pep and the top level team that anyone would love to play for.

Example, Pau, Spanish, would probably love to play under Pep and with his national team partner, Laporte.

Have a look at the number of CBs of opponent squads that play 3 at the back, eg Chelsea. We won't do that.
Btw, we want to dominate matches with a proven and - as they say - very complicated system. We won't change that for fun.

Ake just had been relegated with Bournemouth and the Netherlands hadn't qualified for the Euro 2020 finals. It was a good situation for him to move to us.
