Stats will tell half a story, Sterling’s had many stinkers and might have tapped one in at the end. Wolves away springs to mind. I think Sterling benefited massively to being in this city side due to his one world class asset, movement and positioning. It allows him to get good numbers whilst fluffing many chances, it will be interesting to see how he does at Chelsea. Some may be biased, but I believe that most of those who aren't nuts about Sterling feel the way they do because they are comparing him to other players in his role such as Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Salah and such and imagining what a player of that ilk could do playing in this squad...his lack of technical skill, poor decision making with the ball, etc. stands out among his teammates and not in a good way especially when playing against a low block...this idea that he's some extraordinary player off the ball is a bit of a myth fabricated by his most fervent supporters to offset his aforementioned shortcomings...if your playing up top on this squad, are not a primary distributor and don't know to move to the vacant spots no matter how tight the windows are when KDB, Foden, Bernardo, etc. are on the ball then honestly what else are you doing? The worst part about this is I just know that some people are never going to let it go. Not sure that's correct. He was offered a new deal but didn't want to sign it. He could have gone on a free next year but instead of that we've managed to get a good fee for him.
