Callum Doyle

The credit will probably go elsewhere but Callum has had a stand out Euros and was vital last night scoring the equaliser and his goal clearance MOTM for me.

The credit didn't go anywhere else, he got MOTM for that win.

He is probably our most promising defender out of all the loanees and academy players we have.

Good at breaking forward with his big frame and a good passer, too potentially rash at times but that's part of growing as a defender.

If he doesn't make it here, will almost certainly make it at the top level at some other club. Would be the one I'd be most upset about losing when compared to our current youth/loanees.

He had a great tournament and was the standout England player, last night. The Israel number 10 stood out, for me.

He was overplayed at Sunderland, it was inevitable he was eventually going to lose form and get fatigued. From the start of the season until the end of February he missed just one league game - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-doyle/leistungsdaten/spieler/817688

He’s definitely good enough for the Championship though. Look at some of the shit defenders Norwich have when they continually get promoted!
You are spot on. Lee Johnson played him every week and his levels dropped as he tired.
He has some very good attributes, his best one being prepared to try the killer pass from the back.
His watch out is his frame, he needs to guard against becoming too heavy.

Hope the kid has a great career as he is a good character who has a winners attitude

Do you think Sunderland would take him again on loan?

Yep, my Cov mates are buzzing with this.
They had a great season last year, significantly overachieved on their pre season expectations, so maybe they’re having a real go at the play-offs this time round
As long as CD gets plenty of game time then its a very decent move and a good step up for his development. Still only 18 remember

Agree with all that. Few Sunderland fans saying he maybe played too much last season though and was burnt out towards the end. Was good in the Euro final as well.

Cov ground is just behind my house so I'll go watch him when I can.

Yep he played a staggering amount of football considering he was 17 when the season started
