Most underrated City player ever?

Agreed, he was a really good prospect and already held his own in the team.
He was by far our best and most exciting young player but Reid sold him for peanuts and replaced him with the fucking useless Alfons Groenendijk.
Shades of Clive Allen/Paul Moulden in how so many of our fan favourites were treated around that time

Gareth Barry in the last decade, wonderful, class act.
I was about to say the same thing..... that run at the end of the season of 2012 no matter what Hart did(and this isn't a dig at him) the second person with the ball always seemed to be Barry either as an outlet ball from the back four or NDJ or from a tackle if we had lost the ball and pretty much no one mentions him in that run in at all.

Gordon Smith.
Blues could only think about "...and Smith must score..." v the rags in the last minute of the FA Cup, when he didn't score, so had a downer on him.
Yet he was very stylish and cultured and was top scorer from midfield in the 84 / 85 promotion season
..........and the next time he touched the ball was for City(I think he ended up being our top scorer the following season, might be wrong on that).

Gerry Gow and Paul Power in the 81 cup team . Everton away and semi against Ipswich. Both did a great job.
Gerry Gow, certainly liked to 'get stuck in', probably be sent off almost every game now!, loved by City fans in the short time he was with us.
Paul Power was never especially popular or massively rated and always seemed to get a lot of unfair flak from the terraces. A blue through and through and i seem to remember always applauded the travelling City fans after games.
Maybe not the most naturally gifted player ever to play for us, but he a decent left sided midfielder. 'Gladys' (as he was known by some) could put in a decent cross and scored a few important goals particularly in the 81 Cup run. The late equaliser at Everton and the free kick (which wasn't actually a free kick was it!) at Villa Park in the semi were great moments leading to brilliant celebrations.

Not the most underrated ever by any means but someone who seems to get lumped in with the rest of the shit from the early 80s and I always thought was a pretty decent player was Kevin Reeves.

I think his whole career was done and dusted in about 10 years because of injuries but he’s someone I always think could have been top notch if he’d not had the bad luck he did.

No no no.

I remember him missing an open goal by smashing the ball onto the crossbar in the last minute away at Doncaster in a cup match.
It was a ridiculous miss and fucked my bet of £135 coming in.
Think it was the game Nedhum accidentally broke their keepers leg, not to sure but i remember Sun's miss like it was yesterday
Was it the miss or the fact you lost the money that upset you? At least we sold 500 billion shirts in china when we bought Sun.

He left because he was out of contract, we had no manager and no chairman. We were an utter shambles.
Even I would have left City that summer in similar circumstances
Meanwhile James fucked off to the same club for double money, under the guise of spurious family reasons, and got a hero’s welcome from the South stand while Distin got a load of shit. Never understood that
The truth often gets in the way of a good story.
