Maybe just maybe the club do know what they’re doing

I suspect we have a team of highly paid accountants rather just a part time bookkeeper and maybe they have budgets to work to as well as FFP.
Maybe the club plan ahead and don’t just decide what to do when the transfer window opens.So maybe this extra 10-15 million isn’t just some change found in our owners sofa .maybe this money along with the transfer fees we’ve received is actually earmarked for a big transfer next summer ie young Bellingham.

I don’t know because I’m not party to these discussions, but what I do know is
wer’re one of the best run clubs in the world. so I’d like to think if the club deem as most of us do ,we need a LB then we will get one at a price that we are willing to pay.

Do find it hard to fathom that we are the same club who spent £100 mil on grealish but won’t pay £50 mil for cucurella.

Yes I know grealish was a release clause but we didn’t have to target him. I said last summer I don’t think grealish is anywhere near worth £100 mil and I still don’t now. He doesn’t even get into our best starting line up

Where as £50 mil for a top quality lb seems a fair price to me. Especially as we have bought full backs for that price previously.

This is how I see things. If Pep things Cucurella is good enough for our starting team I don't see the issue with the fee of around £50m. Just get it done.

I think issue is he is coming to City to go to barca. He will probably leave in year or two. Barca like players coached by pep. He is using us to get to barca. Paying 50 M for him is overkill. I think that's the reasoning

However you would hope tht with a month left we have a plan B and even Plan C to focus on for the left back position as it would be short sighted indeed to sell Zinchenko and not have back up options

I don't think we look daft at all. Different clubs value players at differing amounts, Depending on their needs. We have been in this situation with several players the past few seasons. Possibly Sanchez, Maguire, Ronaldo, Hazzard, Koubuily, we have often walked away and another club paid more. Pep simply doesn't value Cucuella at more than £40m. Simply put we dont just but every player we are interested in.
