Or I want to sell you my house for £500,000 (which you can afford) but you only value it at £400,000. Do you buy my house for £500,000 or look for alternatives that you think represent better value for your money?

If you choose the 1st option, I have a rather nice house available ;-)
Something is only worth what the buyer wants to pay for it and what the seller wants. My house isn't worth £1m but if that is what someone wants to give me then I will sell as it's a win win. Equally if someone offers me 100k then I am not selling. Surely this is the case here. We value a player at one figure, Brighton another but neither side is prepared to negotiate sensibly. Now supposedly Chelsea are after the player and presumably they think he is worth what Brighton want. We will walk away and find another alternative just as we have walked away from many other players. Walked away from Kane this time last year and how did that work out?

I though I had read that we had made a bid of up to 40M?
All talk of new bids being prepared. Don’t think anything was public of another bid or anything being rejected. Might be wrong but if we got to 40 then for me another 10 or at least further negotiation to get the player your hanging your hat on could have worked. Especially in a window we’ve recouped a lot of money

We got the open goal misser :)

Some may say we lacked a goal scorer in the CL semi final.

If you don't need the car for a few weeks, what does it matter?
Well it’s days away from the season starting so we’ve clearly pondered too long in being prepared. First proper summer off and a chance at a positive pre season and quicker start and we haven’t taken advantage of that. I think that’s a fair assessment whilst probably being called a flapper for pointing it out

Seen lots of comments re Zinchenko…. Just wanted to say maybe the club knew he wanted to move, Arse agreed a fee, he agreed terms and we just concluded that he was a good guy, a loyal servant and deserved to be treated with dignity and respect - and we swiftly granted him his move. Holding him hostage while we signed a replacement would have been pointless and maybe something the club rightly chose not to do. Maybe contrast that behaviour with the actions of the media heralded Spiv Mr Bloom and the way he’s treated his player. We will get no credit but I think City have behaved entirely appropriately with a player who had been exemplary in his conduct whilst with us and who has had a fucking hard time of it recently… (with the war etc..). sometimes you have to do the right thing and on this occasion I’m proud to say we did.

Don't be the voice of reason for this thread, all hope is lost we should all flapping and moaning right now.

Press reported our interest in Cucurella a week after the season ended. I suspect we were out some time ago given BHAFC's insistence on their valuation being met but they kept things simmering to entice Chelsea in. Reverse psychology, eh?!

Great post. Sick of reading about Zin (and Grealish!) on this thread.

None, Pep is happy with Cancelo and has praised Aké's ability to cover as either a Ford or a semi-detached
Madness really. If we get an injury at the back we cannot rely on Ake’s poor injury record. Phillips at centre back in one first 5 league games

Zinchenko isn't just a LB though. You're selling a quality international midfield player that can also cover at LB.

Never any use to us a a midfielder though. His value to us was solely as a stand-in FB. So if we end up with a better FB than him for less than £32m (or whatever we got), I’m quite relaxed.
