People won’t like your comment but I agree. Look at our bench for the community shield. We were only missing Laporte, so imagine when we’re shattered and have 3 or 4 (or more) injuries. We have a squad that can compete for two of the trophies at most whereas we used to have a squad to compete for everything. Still not exactly the worst position to be in but nevertheless we are weaker as a squad with less flexibility and have also sold some reliable players in terms of fitness. All of it will add up throughout the season I’d imagine.

Alexis would of played well under Pep. Mourinho got him playing as a borderline wingback, which suffocated him. The 18 months prior was all good quality form. United put him on a ridiculous salary though

I’m not sure of where I’ve stated otherwise. A top quality LB completes this squad with Cancelo rotating across RB and LB.

I do think you are over exaggerating the problem slightly though. We’ve won the past 2 PLs and almost reached back-to back CL finals with our LB issues.

I think the issue we currently have is a lack of depth at full back rather than quality.

Because its not about the money for Cucurella, he wants to play CL and he signed the contract knowing what His wages were going to be 12mths ago. We probably would of made him an improved offer this summer had his head not been turned, who can blame him not wanting CL once you or Chelsea came calling. SHIT ARGUMENT!!!

Looks like we will find out soon enough. Chavs stacked in that department. Odd buy.

As said, it's a huge games when we have top opposition, we get targeted in that area for a reason.

Still not sure about Cancello personally, when he is on his game he is an outstanding player, but when not he is dreadful.

Walker is a superb player, one of the most effective in the whole squad.

LOL Sanchez's legs had gone at Arsenal, we dodged a huge bullet not that I don't think we played the raggys in a very naughty way.

Defensively, Walker is without a doubt our most important player. The CL semi against Madrid proved that.

I do think Cancelo is hugely underrated by some fans. Probably because when he’s poor, he’s proper shite. But there’s no full back in the world I’d take over him when he’s on top form.

I do think a natural left back would give us a lot more options other than depth though. I think an overlapping, attacking LB would help Grealish out and maybe even provide chances for Haaland. It would also make us far less predictable as well.

What happens if Walker and Cancelo both get injured , its possible, it happened with our cb's last season
