CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Thanks. Yes, it’s one of my pet topics. City were the upstarts and traditional successful teams like Villa and Everton hated it. It’s no coincidence that it was games against those clubs that led to the investigation. It was a truly shocking tale. Maybe I’ll post the full story on my website soon?

What do you mean games against them lead to investigations

From Billy Meredith's wiki page

He scored ten goals in 35 games in the 1904–05 season, as City came within two points and two places of champions Newcastle United. The season ended in controversial circumstances at Villa Park, and with a 3–2 defeat to Aston Villa ending any hopes of winning the league, Sandy Turnbull and Villa captain Alex Leake exchanged blows.[37] The Football Association launched an investigation into the violence, and the findings shocked the sporting world as Meredith was suspended for the entirety of the 1905–06 season for (unsuccessfully) attempting to bribe Alex Leake.[38] No evidence was taken from Meredith, who denied the charge, and the evidence was not made public.[39] The club, fearful of FA sanctions, refused to pay Meredith during the campaign. He was transfer listed in May 1906 after he claimed that he had only attempted to bribe Leake on the orders of manager Tom Maley and that illegal payments were common practice at Hyde Road.[40] The FA acted on his information, and fined Manchester City £900 for illegal payments and suspended numerous players, boardroom members and staff members.[41]

How many years do they need?
Many, it isn't about innocence or guilt, it is about allowing the media to continually attack us.
The investigation would never have started, never mind gone on for years if certain clubs had not forced the leagues hand.

an investigation that has been going on for how long, personally think they have nothing and are just keeping it open and saying there investigating to apease certain clubs

Surely under UK law there has to be some form of Statute of Limitaions? I'm aware the Premier League has no such rule but they have to obey UK law. Not sure if thats the case and it would be great if some of our more clued up members could give their opinion on this matter.
i know the general rule is 6 years isnt it. i know theres rules and exceptions to that.

You think by now they would understand how we have been treated for the last 12 years and do a little bit of their own research instead of believing the propaganda and fake news.

That idiot the true geordie did nothing but moan about Manchester city owners and the money until they had new owners, then it's a different story and if city got away with it then Newcastle should be able too ? What on earth does he think Manchester city got away with, FFP have been all over us and the books are clean and proven in court,

also, Manchester city have been the best run club in football and revenue and turn over the past 5 years is the number one in world football, so true geordie or and any other ant and Dec's good luck in becoming a major club, Because the rules changed because the so-called elite clubs thought it would stop Manchester city in their tracks,

funny thing was it was far too late because Manchester city was built, the foundations set in stone and a winning club with a title winning team and FA Cup winners,

Yep, true Geordie has been banging on for years about the fa and uefa needing to tighten up on cash injections from middle Eastern owners, so he should be happy Newcastle are coming under so much scrutiny

One of 3 things have happened over the SM years, we're either squeaky clean, very good at hiding stuff or the auditors/legal mob are absolutely shite.

I suspect it's quite a lot of the first option and a chuck of the last one.

The amount of legals who've been through our books in itself is criminal and bordering on harassment of the club.

As others have stated , Richard Masters is just providing lip service to the'istree clubs and the media , there would be a furore if he stated the investigation is dead and FFP breaches unproven. There is absolutely no chance the Premier league will be taking any action , they would have been forensically examining our acccounts for years and they have found nothing
In fact the club should give the Premier league an ultimatum , put up or shut up , we sent UEFA running away with their tail between their legs its time to do the same to Masters and the clubs he is trying to appease.

The High Court judge effectively gave a "put up or shut up message" at the last hearing. She addressed concern at the delay to lawyers from both sides. I think there is a good chance the whole investigation will be "timed out." Remember that it is considering complaints about our accounts dating back to 2011. Judges are not usually stupid people and can see through the politics of cases like this.
Personally I think that, like UEFA who had no evidence, the PL will be happy for the case to collapse. It gets them off the hook with the Cartel clubs and allows them to claim that "City got off on a technicality."
