Their problem has been lack of a sporting director, not lack of cash.
Yep. That's the first thing they should have done when fergie announced his retirement.
They wouldn't have spent so much if they had an actual plan rather than jerk from one manager to the next who have all had very different playing styles.
Never mind.

Jelly and ice cream, anyone?

If I could ever bring myself to talk to one of these "rebel" united fans I'd try to find out what it is, exactly that they want. New owners ? Okay.

But first they have to buy the club and you are looking at..what... 4.5 billion.

No debt ? Okay, add another 3/4 of a billion (that we know about) to settle that.

New squad ? Okay, raise..say..100m selling your saleable players. Buy 13 or 14 decent players at a minimum of 30m a piece, say another 350 million net.

So a new owner is looking at around 6 billion to arrive at square one with a team that can challenge for a CL place. And woe betide them if they want a return on that investment given the football club is the sole source of income. None of the wider strategy we have been implementing for 12 years.

Then they've got the toxic fan appeasement issue then they've got the manager issue. Then they've got the stadium issue. Then they've got the shit academy issue, then they've got the declining fan-base issue, then they've got the increasing competition issue.

Even with their publicity arm in the UK media, they are fucked !!!

It's funny how you read what you think is there, apart from you obviously!
I hadn't spotted that. Mind you when ever I see the word united I read it as shower of shite.
I used to watch a lot of countdown

That's pretty much nailed it.
Regarding their publicity arm in the media, that's pretty much down to Goldstein on talksh*te who tries to keep them relevant by any means.
Remember the song -
"The future is ours
The future is ours
You can keep your 'istory -
The future is ours!"

If all that happened, they'd still be behind Spuds and Chelsea, and maybe Arsenal.
6 billion to stand still

I have a choice. Either you post that again or I just re-read your original, either is good for me as I have gone quite moist in an area I had forgotten I got moist in.
