Absolutely mate - a huge downgrade.

I do disagree with you that we won’t replace Bernie if he does leave this summer though.

We very rarely get stuff like this wrong, but we did fuck it up completely with both Vinnie’s replacement in 2019, and Zin’s this summer. We won’t want to make the same mistake again.

Given we don’t need to sell Bernardo at all this summer, I simply can’t see us opening ourselves to the same kind of problems we had with both the above two when there’s no reason to do so.

The Club have said directly through Pep and indirectly through briefings to their chosen media that he only goes if we’ve got a replacement.

I see no reason why we’d intentionally go against our stated position and weaken our squad when we don’t have to.
Fair point mate but even if we do replace him we weaken our squad as IMO there isn’t anybody that can do what Bernie does for us to that standard.

That’s a fact mate - the only two names being thrown about at the moment are Nunes and Paqueta - neither of whom even come close to Bernie’s quality.

Bernie is one of the best in the world in his position. From what I’ve seen of him, Nunes is a Wolves-level signing. Decent, but nothing special.

Like you say, we replace him with either of those, we’re weakening our squad irrespectively.

Feel like the reason Klopp said the other day it now looks like they won’t be signing anyone else is because they wanted Nunes and he’s pretty much keeping a promise to City that he’ll wait for Bernardo to go. I’d be amazed if the two deals don’t happen tbh. Just feels inevitable now.

Yet to see a credible link to Nunes at all, bar Pep said he had a great game once.

Kompany fucked us over, let us know at the last minute that he wanted out and we were left scrambling for a replacement and there was no deals on the market. I guess we could have done what the rags done and just bought someone who plays as a CB. Instead, we waited a season and signed Dias and went back to back titles. That is how you run a football club.

Zinchenko wanted to go, we aren't in the business of standing in the way. We have now bought one of the most talented players in his position for a great price as the replacement. Job done.

I’d rather have a signing like Fornals over this bloke, as others have said though not seen anything linking him with us but believe he has a ~£50m release clause, so maybe that’ll get Txiki erect for him.

This lad is a holding midfielder. Really good talent but we don't need him after signing Phillips.

The silky skill may not be there. But the intensity Nunes brings might be even more intense than Bernado. Not to mention he also has that Yaya full on attack mode where he runs through teams.

But let me hold my excitement. This smwe is turning out to be be my dream literally materializing at every level.
