A positive from today — long may it last.
XG is the most american garbage the world has ever seen.
The invention of XG as an actual thing that people care about along with VAR is slowly turning the greatest sport in the world into a fucking dumpster fire.
I’d agree Foden and Walker (along with our other full back) were sub-par today, but I think the other players you’ve named in there and the rest of the team were assets to us today.Disappointing performance, not often we go ahead and end up dropping points.
Talking of "dropping"...Foden was poor again. See if Grealish was churning out these types of performances week in week out, imagine the abuse he'd be getting, well actually, I don't have to imagine because he was getting that stick last season.
Stones just needed to head that ball back to Ederson but instead headed it back into play, then failed to clear it a 2nd time. Not sure what was wrong with their 2nd either, we got a bit lucky with that one.
Gundogan's worst performance for quite some time too.
Thing is, if brain of Britain Walker squares that in the 1st 5 minutes then we are one up, away to a side bereft of confidence, with a very nervy home crowd...instead he tries the glory shot.
Some staggeringly poor decisions today that cost us 2 points.
Aside from the great cross, KDB was a bit erratic with his passing too.
Ah well, we take the point and move on. we've struggled a bit recently at Villa Park with some nervy 1 goal wins, couldn't manage it agaib today unfortunately.
I have never been so sure that we’ll win the league. We are miles better than anyone in this league this season. Erling stays fit for 80% off the season and we win by 15 points
Err was thinking more of a win for you know the err other side?Arsenal?
It’s not quite that simple. If you look at CR37’s stats last season, his numbers for sprints and distance were decent.Whats his workrate? I mean stats. I saw him running and chasing and back for corners when he wasnt try to position himself for an attack. Have youi got stats or is it your intuition?

absokutely. Whistle blown (wrongly) but eddy didn’t even tryThey’re wilfully ignoring the blown whistle that stopped everyone playing. The decision was wrong but it wasn’t a disallowed goal, the decision happen long before the shot. Stones was stood there throwing his arms in the way - just because he was more worried about the ball hitting his head than any possibility of a goal. Play had stopped.
Ironically, dumpster is an Americanism.XG is the most american garbage the world has ever seen.

I just don't care about it. I don't care about if we batter someone with possession ( how many s's in possssesion - i've never known). I watch the game, i know when we were better or worse and no stat is going to erase watching and playing so many years of football - just like you and everyone else on here. I just think it's absolute nonsense to reference it, thats all.Depends on how you read it though.
Our xG is so high because he had so many point blank shots that were hit right at the keeper. Haaland did it twice, Foden did it, Walker skied one, Kev got into a couple of good positions.
We were shit but still should have won.
Wow, thats some insight. You can predict which goalies would save a shot in any given situation?I understand and respect your point of view, but, I have reached to this conclusion from my experience watching Ederson in all previous games. He is not that goalkeeper who would stop that shot.
Mistakes can lead to goals, it was a mistake. He shouldn't have come that far out in the first place, when he did he's got to hold the ball. That’s cool. He wasn’t as they scored from a different phase of play.
Its a bit like saying Stones was at fault for the goal. Sure he could have cleared it earlier, but he wasn’t directly at fault for the goal.
Agree with this but needs context of 6 games in tbfIt’s not quite that simple. If you look at CR37’s stats last season, his numbers for sprints and distance were decent.
He didn’t join in their press though and made them easy to play against.
Haaland needs to adapt to our press better. His goals change games, but our poorer press can change games too.
And you think I didn't do that on purpose?Ironically, dumpster is an Americanism.
It feels very disappointing to me, we are so much better than our performance today. I was looking forward to the game but feel fed up now. We have mostly played against teams I'd expect us to beat, next week will be a tough test.Someone said I must be blind because I said Kev’s radar was off. Didn’t say he played badly. He hit the bar, and had a chance to score after. Also played a slightly short pass to Ake with a Villa player close by and bad pass close to the end.
I’m always happy to converse on the performance of a player but with people but now I remember why I hardly do it with people despite it being a forum.
With that said, that felt like a tough draw to swallow. Felt like the precedent of the match could be seen after Kyle failed to find Haaland within 5 minutes. A lot of sloppy passes as well. Rodri gave the ball away a number of times…not his best game but his shot wasn’t too far off from securing a win too.
Just glad Coutinho didn’t win it for them. Pep will make sure to remind them of focusing on one game at a time but I doubt the lads were thinking about the champions league while trying to win a game against Villa.
I’d like to say it’s one of those games but it feels slightly disappointing as Villa haven’t been great at all.
