Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

If Spurs do us it’s usually a sign we are going to win the league.

They have apparently had an excellent start to the season but are level on points with us.
we play our inverted fullbacks and they will do us.....we cannt give that much space to Son outwide but Pep seems to do it every time.....it only needs kane to succesfully hold it up once and Son will be in....and it will happen if we play our fullbacks as we have been doing...

Pep has also confirmed that Walker is injured (not saying he is out but he could be)....If Cancello plays on the right it could be even more trouble as Cancello naturally goes forward where as walker still has a defensive mind about him...that again will leave Son is so much space.

Are some really having a go at Mahrez?

Should’ve been sold in the Summer? He was top scorer last season and is happy (no moaning or interviews) to rotate despite being one of the best wingers in Europe.

Not only that, the guy didn’t even start today. Kinell
New contract, the shit out tackle against real madrid, the bottle it penalty miss against west ham, the bottle it miss against Liverpool at home last season and name one moment this season he hasn't been fucking terrible. Will it last forever, we all hope not.

those 3
what about the other 8 too ?
i'll let haaland off cos he scored
it was a dire performance full stop
Yeah some other below par peformances but for me they were the worst, compared to how we know they can play. One of Gundo’s worst games in a city shirt

They had a very good one in the first half that Watkins should have finished watch it back on motd. We weren’t good enough today and had loads of chance to win. But they did deserve a point
I didn’t see or listen to the game coz of work, but going off the stats they didn’t deserve a point..

I’m not a ‘new’ fan by any means (I’m an ‘old’ supporter), but yes my expectations have gone up a lot, as the standards at my club have. Doesn’t make me a spoilt brat.

I agree about the criticism of Mahrez based on today is ott, but the more general, ‘you don’t know how lucky you are/back in my day’ stick that some blues use to have a go at others, as soon as they dare criticise players in a really successful side, is overdone and then some.
Maybe the older fans appreciate that drawing away is so much better than mostly always losing..

''we always win at home and we sometimes draw away'' does'nt have the same ring to it. ;)

Well summed up, it's really early, and our main challenge will be Liverpool, we have 5 points and 5 goals on them already. We have to perform better in the coming weeks with Arsenal and Spurs coming up. Utd may do us a favour tomorrow as well.
I dont get why people are ignoring Arsenal...they have chance to go 5 pts clear of us tomorrow if they beat the rags. Im not ignoring the scousers so them dropping points is great BUT Arsenal are there on merit and have been playing well....it would be a mistake to right them off...Arteta is a very good manager.

You are right about spurs...play like we have been doing with the inverted fullbacks and they will exploit that..they are the perfect team to do so with Son and Kane....level with us on points as well

Not at the races today. 2 points dropped.

It’s gone now. The players do need to find a higher level than they are currently playing at if we are to push on for a 3rd title. It is not easy.

Far too early to judge. We look good but also look bad in some aspects. Need the players to have a chat and sort out the problems.

Pep needs to tweak the system as the ball is constantly with Walker or the defenders and that is exactly were the opposition want it.

Couple of big games coming up. I trust the players to win both this week.

A lot to of fannies on this thread as per any result that isn’t a 5-0 drubbing.

This was one of those 4/5 games we seem to have every season where no one is properly at it and the performance feels lethargic and sloppy. It’s like the final 2 gears are missing but you can’t quite put your finger on it.

We should be used to it by now.

It’ll be reet.

Any sensible City fan should factor in a few matches each season where we expect to win but don't. It's the nature of the beast and it happensto every title hopeful.

They got lucky mate, we should've won that and had the chances to do it, comfortably!
Exactly. Im not not this "Villa deserved a point" nonsense. They literally had one shot for the entire game. We could have scored another 2 or 3 after we took the lead.

We've nobody you blame but ourselves for failing to take all three points today, even though we were well below par we were still the far dominat side.

i agree
just pointing out all 10 were shit
only haaland,purely for his goal.
Indeed..All players were under par, shit happens...but an under par performance and getting a point away is what we have... 1 point won us the title last year. That point for Villa may keep them up..
I know which position I'd rather be in.
