Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

If anyone wants their football fix, Dortmund vs Leipzig is starting in a couple of minutes normally alot of goals when these two face each other.

Is it two days, 3 days whatever. The nation is in mourning, football can happen still. Its really really not that big a deal to miss football for a few days.
No, of course - there hasn’t been any over the summer - but that’s not the point, for me anyway.

For you, and this is a genuine question, what does a day of mourning consist of? Or multiple days? What is it you actually do all day?
I’m interested, not least because I lost my Mum a few months ago, and I’m not mentioning that for any sympathy, but to ask what do you think mourning all day, all weekend does/should consist of?
I’d like to just reflect on what you say, and compare it to what I did for her?

What in pray tell me did she give us?
Hopefully someone's grandchildren will read about how we became a republic and ditched this obscene archaic institution
A republic would be better than a monarchy but I think the current Royals are quite a decent bunch. Better than a republic might be the way that Cuba operates. Despite the pressure of that nearby Republic, the USA, Cuba gets by in a very fair and equal way. Sadly, other Communist countries tend to give Communism a bad name. I'd love to see the UK run along Cuban lines. We have advantages Cuba doesn't have, and rather than the obscene rich lording it, we would have a good enough economy and nobody unemployed. What did the Queen give us? King Charles! A thoroughly decent man who I shall support in the meantime. : )

It’s not just about missing football though is it? It’s about peoples businesses that are barely staying afloat as it is losing much needed revenue.
Why do posters think it’s just because some are missing their football fix that they don’t agree with the postponements?

fucking MAD that the scouse vermin got all games cancelled this weekend.

You can try to deny it, and theyve been very diplomatic in their press release but the league, and we, know EXACTLY who would embarrass them. You know, just like they do every single time they play in Europe.

I have no idea. I am not mourning. The country is, on the whole. I don't actually have an affinity with the royals.

Respecting peoples loss though, I have affinity for that, and as much as not having football is a pain its happening.

Sorry m8 I guess you were going to tell me how to grieve in an appropriate way.

I'm just so sick of all of this bullshit.

The whole thing is sinister. The idea that their bloodline is somehow more dignified, more pure and all round superior to the rest of us. The idea that they are 'born to reign over us'. It makes me sick. It is in complete opposition to the basic principles of the modern world - that we're all born equal. That we're judged by our actions, not by the privileges gained through the accident of birth.

And now, after a 96 year old woman, who has lived off the fat of the land her whole life, has died - we're supposed to thank her?

Thanks for what, exactly?

She wasn't my queen, and he's not my king. I don't give a fuck, and I'm not sorry for saying it.

A society with so many in need is being gaslighted into prioritising the death of one old woman, because they think they're better than us. It really is that simple.

2022 is a bit too far down the timeline for the acceptance of the divine rights of monarchs and the doling out of positions of power to those who swam out of a very specific pair of testicles.

I don't really begrudge people wanting to keep a firm grasp on what they see as their traditions, even if I find those traditions bemusing. What I can't be dealing with is when it needlessly impacts on those who simply don't give a shit.

Need some help from the old hands on here...

In the absence of the Match Thread, which thread do I go to if I feel in need some apocalyptic gibbering hysteria?

Thanks for replying, and no I’m certainly not going to make any comment on how to grieve; it’s a statement of the obvious but it’s individual I’m sure we’d both agree.

But I don’t think you can directly compare a county mourning as you describe it to a person, but I still think it comes down to individual choice. For example the matches this weekend could have gone ahead - and the Queen’s passing marked at the venues. If any individual supporter didn’t feel that was right they could have made their own choice, exercised their free will, to not attend that match.
Instead that choice - for football supporters only - has been removed for them.

Prince Charles! a man who cheated on his wife with in weeks of the wedding, if not before, and then was a hypocrite and marched behind her coffin to gain favour with the public and forced his young sons to do so people wouldn't boo him I might agree that Liz was a nice person but Charles is stretching it as I have lots of other doubts about him as well

Nah she was the glue that held us all together. I’ve turned into an alcoholic drugged up quivering wreck now she’s gone
