The wife works there and has an hour every day for dinner and a credit card.

Terrible place, can't find my way round with all the lights on,I remember the woolies fire in piccadilly, god knows if similar happened in there.
I have seen the fire control measures in this building and I can assure beyond all doubt there is no chance of that happening there.

Its not my cup of tea for shopping but i do like to eat there. Also is the safest shopping centre around, the security do a top job there.

Exits and entrances all over the place in the Trafford Centre , on all sides of the building , so nobody would be far from one should a large-scale fire break out ...... the place is also riddled with cameras , and , as you say , security staff ....... many of the larger stores in there , such as Selfridges , John Lewis and Debenhams , have 'side exits' too ...... so yes , i agree , it's about as safe a shopping centre as it's possible to get.

Fire stations also sited at nearby Sale and Eccles to assist if needed ...

There was actually a small fire at 'Barburrito' in the Trafford Centre there only last year ....

I would rather let the Mrs shit in my mouth than go somewhere like that or IKEA its tinterweb for me mostly cheaper for the same gear and no hassle

Would you let your Mrs shit in my mouth?

yes of course anything for a fellow blue

i absolutely detest the place, worked there for 7 years (1st in Debenhams then in Selfridges on the GAME concession that was..).

the pay is shit, management treat you like shit, plenty of customers do the same, however working at game did come with a few perks.. namely discount, but also being paid to play games and speak to footballers who would pass through selfridges.

Its amazing what video game preference can tell you about a footballers mentality - used to speak quite regularly to Kompany and he only ever bought war strategy games (Rome total war etc).. direct comparison with say Micah who would come in regularly and only ever bought stuff like Fifa.

come to think of it... i miss that now. wow i have issues.

I went once, got through the door, then 20 yards in, stopped, thought 'nah', turned around and I've never been back.

I watched a programme on TV a few years ago about the psychology of shoppers, and I fitted the 'detest shopping with a vengeance' profile to a tee.

Rush in, get what you want, and retreat as fast as possible.

I hate shopping.

When I see places like the Trafford Centre I think radical Islam has a point.

Well the place is always full of asians, most of who I would expect to be muslims...so they seem happy with it...

My missus's company have just bought out the Exchange Bar & Grill recently....so been to the Trafford Centre a few times recently....horrid soulless place.
don't know if it's still there, but the toilets between nando's & the arcade had 'white bastards' graffitied on it earlier this year. anyway, i was back there two or three weeks later & it was still there -- i remember seeing it for the second time & being taken back at how it remained (clearly visible!) in such a busy & commercial environment.

I'd sooner walk round Bury with a nail in my shoe than visit that shithole

Can't stand the place.
What a remarkable coincidance that just as the Trafford Centre building was started, Manchester city centre (which would have been ruined by the new centre) was blown to bits / demolished by a bomb!
Quite convenient that.
Ever wondered why that van with the bomb in it was allowed to stay parked on double yellows outside M&S all morning???!!!!

Makes you think....

Think I know where your coming from.
The IRA secretly own the Trafford Centre under the disguise of Peel Holdings. Who also happen to own Barton Stadium. Home of the Salford City Reds. Who next season are changing their name to Salford Red Devils. Also the nickname of MUFC.

All makes sense now.

Them red bastards blew up the Arndale.

The place is a hell hole. Every time I've been (not been for a long time), I've wanted to leave within fifteen minutes.

Much prefer town. Loads more shops for men in town, loads more decent shops like Ran and Oi Polloi (in fact don't think there's own like this at all at the TC), its nice being outside in town, there's a City Store in town, there's loads of good bars and places to eat in town...

The only two places that do stuff like Ran and Oi Polloi are Aspecto and Tessuti. That said the staff in Aspecto are useless and Tessuti just attracts the scroats. I tend to avoid the place if I can, I'd much rather shop in town.

Went today, 1st time since about May (for food at Tampopo), which was probably the 1st time since going for eye test during lockdown (very odd walking through with no other shops open), and before that a few more years.

Anyway, due to illness, then covid, then life, I’ve not been clothes shopping, at all, for about 7+ years, so Mrs JASR booked me in for a personal shopper at John Lewis (no commission), 2 hours of blissful clothes shopping. Highly recommended. Massive private changing room, no ‘5 items maximum’, someone to go and find clothes and bring them to you, and ditto for when you need a slight change of size, or ‘more like that’. Amazing.

Experience was slightly ruined, as we went for food, and my eyeballs popped out as we walked past the hideously decorated and coloured ‘Archie’s’ - I’d get a headache if I had a meal in there:
