Anyone give advise on ques at terminal 2 going Sunday 7pm flight also does anyone know if there's an area or pub that shows sky sports don't want to miss the match.

When I went in August for a 7.30 flight it was empty. I was the only one at security. There is a bar or two but I don’t recall a TV on.

Just trying to shake off the jet lag after getting back from Vancouver on Friday.

We had a painful 48 hour journey home with an unplanned overnight stay in Munich. Our flight out of Canada was delayed by four hours because of a sick passenger on the inbound flight which caused us to miss our planned connection in Germany. We waited around 5 hours till the next flight at 10pm but only two of our party of 4 got seats so SWMBO and I had to stay over till the next afternoons flight which has spare seats.

We took a 10 day all inclusive cruise down the California coast stopping in San Francisco, San Diego, LA and Santa Monica which was brilliant!

We got back to Vancouver then spent four days there to see the City. It’s a great place but certain parts e.g. Chinatown were like walking onto the set of the Michael Jackson Thriller Video with vast numbers of people off their heads on Opioids and that was in the daytime .. We’ve never seen anything like it. The hotel was close to some good bars but we didn’t stay out past 11 and even then we walked home past people shooting up with used syringes and drug paraphernalia literally all over the place, human excrement on the pavements and some very sad sights indeed with hundreds of people under the influence. The locals just walked past them and frequented their trendy cafes etc. walking past the druggies like they weren’t even there.

It’s fair to say that we hope they never follow suit here and legalise Cannabis (supposedly the root cause of Canada’s drug problem) and we’ll probably never visit Canada again which is a real shame as the scenery, even around city, was stunning

Went to Cornwall for the first time ever and stayed in St. Ives for a week. Wow, what a lovely place! Lots of great bars, restaurants and independent shops. We went in the last week of September and the weather was mixed (mostly rain). Had a couple of trips out, Mousehole (beautiful fishing village), Newlyn and Truro. Will have a trip to Newquay next year. Incidentally, do you sit in SSL2 Block 316/7?
We had very good weather mate with a few days of 17c to 18c and clear sunshine so I guess it's the luck of the draw. We dont normally kick around beaches for too long as I have a low patience threshold prefering to be on the move, but Porthgwidden beach at St Ives held us hostage for over two hours sat aside a quaint cafe bar. Harbour beach is beyond reproach and picture postcard tackle but I would imagine at the peak of summer it would be nightmarish for parking and crowds.

Regarding the ss2 mate our last season card was a few years back in the 117. We had season cards up in the the gods on value gold for a few years but it was like watching ants and got ever so tired of asking our immediate neighbours who had the ball : / Hospitality for a good few years but nowadays it's become so expensive.

Cup games and individual league games that we attend we do try for ss2 217 and 218 as theres a good few of the Rochdale and Failsworth mob we know that hang there, but nowadays it's .. as and when we can attend.

Do try Newquay, you'll absolutely love it and if you like walking your in for a treat! Our favourite bar restauraunt is called the Fort and has the best beer garden view of Newquay bay you will find. Reasonable prices too.

The Fort beer garden panarama of Towan beach with tide out.

Vancouver’s homeless and drug problems have been around as long as I can remember.
It has nothing to do with the recent legalization of cannabis.
I‘m surprised you weren’t advised to avoid Chinatown tbh.

A friend told me that they’d visited Chinatown and they wouldn’t go back but we fell into it when walking around Gastown really… The issues there really are off the scale

Sounds like a nice holiday mate, except for the drug addicts of Vancouver of course.

The Californian cruise was superb.. my favourite stop was San Diego and I’d love to have more time there.. The two Nimitz Class Carriers in the harbour were very impressive and I’d love to have more time to have eaten in the large Italian community there.. We may go back sometime

Thanks for the info on Newquay mate. It looks stunning and well worth a visit. Pencilled in September next year for myself and Mrs Deedy. In St. Ives we spent a couples of hours at the beach cafe near The Tate Gallery with a bottle of Shiraz for company watching the surfers. As regards SSL2 I thought you might have been somebody I occasionally spoke to, who like yourself, enjoyed many holidays. Thanks once again and happy holidays!

I'm going to San Diego in April.

Which one would you absolutely recommend, St Ives ?

Not too sure on your age mate but if your of a younger persuation then probably Newquay would be a better fit due to the surf crowd and nightlife. Out of the four I mentioned for me it ould have to be St Ives, but only out of season.

Its been a good while since we were last down here but it's fair to say that wherever your stationed your not too far from the scenic. We based ourselves at Perranporth, with Falmouth only a 30 minute trot away, St Ives taking 40 minutes and Newquay 20 minutes. Penzance took a good hour and a little sad we never had time for the Lands End.

Travelling down was accomplished in just under 5 hours with no road closures. The A30 currently has half it's carriageway closed on the stretch south of Newquay and is sheduled to be finished in a few more weeks.

Done Cornwall loads of times in the past with the kids. Gradually progressed further West each time. As people have said St Ives is very busy high season and a nightmare for parking. We stayed in Carbis Bay about 2 miles away. A few times in a cottage but also in apartments. There is a train direct from Carbis Bay into St Ives too.
Favourite places in Cornwall? Kynance Cove is my favourite beach absolutely stunning. Lizard Peninsula is great too just for exploring. Other great beaches at Chapel Porth and Godrevy.
We tended to avoid Newquay as it is a bit Blackpoolish (our home town).

What's the best area for beauty, harbour, restaurants etc, not too bothered about beaches, prefer a harbour with restaurants around it :)
