I think whats really weird is the insane and ludicrous attempt to reinvent or rather redefine that which really matters in football.
In front of our very own eyes, some here are trying to reinvent the game by discrediting valuable contributions and creating new statistics in football just so they can accommodate a player that has performed below average.
A few days ago a poster here actually told me that assists do NOT matter for a modern midfielder. Seriously!
That's what's really weird.

Did you actually forget the 4 possible assists KDB could have had in the last game but are ignoring them for the 1 thing that did actually work?
If all our stuff worked where we had them beat, we could have won 0-5.
If nothing worked, we could have lost 4-0. Tielemens, Barnes, Iheanacho and that own goal.
Grealish is a lot better than Sterling on the left. You actually keep possession of the ball for one and it creates spaces for others.. maybe not directly but indirectly.
This thread is utterly bizarre: top of the league; qualified top of the CL group with a game to spare, yet some are singling out a player for criticism, despite the fact that the only games we have dropped points in are games when he has not played. This is a team game, and he is an important part of the team.
What is it about our fan base that some always need a player to be negative about?

If either the rags or dippers had bought him , the very same posters who are singing his praises would be laughing at how little impact he has had.
Hes been a huge disappointment.
That's the reality.
We were just as successful before we bought him, in fact if you were being super critical he should and could have put us out of sight in the second leg against real Madrid before the shambles that followed.
We were successful, yes, but we sold Sterling, Jesus and Zin. The fact that we are still there says a lot of positive things about the players who we have and the management team too.

Sancho is trash, Bellingham is a headless chicken that doesn't have what Pep wants but Grealish is a football genius, has that "thing" that Pep wants and is a future Balon d'or winner.
What he brings to the table is so good that you can't see it but you just have to believe and have faith that he is bringing something to the table, don't bother trying to see what he contributes and don't even try to ask what his contribution is, as doing that is a sacrilegious act, just KNOW that he's contributing something and be fine with that.

Couldn’t care less who scores, assists, has the best stats, scores the most penalties or anything else as long we play well & hopefully win things, which we have with him in the team

If we were still winning games and trophies and pep was happy to keep picking him why would anyone give a fuck. Is a team game and the team results and performance are all that matter within that individual stats are meaningless.
I guess everyone should stop talking about haaland then. No need to be excited at all is there.

I agree with that.
Forget the fee, it's just that he's in his second season and we're not really seeing much player development. I know people will say he's under orders and he doesn't give the ball away, but he should be producing a lot more by now.
We've seen in flashes that he can be effective, like running at the defence against Real Madrid and yesterday, that won Kev's freekick, but he doesn't do that or impact the game nearly enough for a player of his talent level.

Not what anybody has said, spin it how you like. Only the team matters,when Pep pick Grealish which he does often it’s because he thinks it’s the best team to get a result that day, and he trusts the players he picks. More often than any other manager he’s right. Yet you and a couple of others reckon you know better than him and Grealish is just some sort of mascot to be picked and not do anything .Yet amazingly we still win with 10 men and a passenger.

He doesn’t slow the play down any more or any less than any of our other front 6.
He retains the ball and allows others to get into shape to join in. It can be infuriating at times but he’s not the only player guilty of it which is why I’m convinced it’s a tactic Pep is happy with. Sure, it’s not flamboyant or sexy to watch but there’s a method in the madness and it’s seen us sitting pretty in the league and CL so other than pop up with the odd goal and assist here and there I fail to see why his performances deserve the scrutiny they get and if it’s down to fee then basically tough shit. It’s not a fair stick to beat him with.
