Thanks mate.I had an achilles problem and it dragged on a while. Probably caused by old shoes.
Massage of the tendon (up and down and also rolling it in fingers) to break down any scar tissue really helped. To start with the tendon felt like bubble wrap!
Avoid running up hills as that puts a lot more strain on it & warm up slowly.

Quite rare I get this and I do it's usually gone in a day or two but this has been weeks (with one of the suspects being those Hoka Cliftons which have had a few pointers to heel pain.
I hope it's not that - I love them and they weren't cheap!
I'll try the massage you mentioned (along with some exercises).
I've also picked up a really tight hamstring (muscle area on the back of my thigh) - could be a mix of return to running and starting swimming again.
