A colleague is Argentinian and lives in Buenos Aires.

I brought up their Falklands chants on a Zoom call today, didn’t go down at all well with her or any of my other colleagues.

But, never one to give up, I pressed the issue until an explanation was offered……

To summarise, she said “I think you English have had lots of wars, but we’ve only had one war, so we are very sensitive about it.”

No idea how true it is but that’s the best explanation I could get.

I told her to build a fucking bridge, and I’d be cheering Messi on regardless.

I did then bring up the irony of the final being versus France, who sneakily supplied them with Exocet missiles during the Falklands War, but it was made very clear that was the end of the conversation at that point.

Waiting for an email from HR on Monday :)

Do you really think that folks like Aguero, Zabaleta, etc., who have lived on England for a big part of their lives and surely have a lot of respect and love for England and their people, really sing that song (and make no mistake, they have sang it many times during their lives) with any other intention than just sparking footballing banter?

Had a bet befire worked cup on both France and argies to win so looking to cash out on one . And advice on who to pick . Heard a virus is in the French camp but don’t know who .
 
Hopefully Julian is not singing it as that would be a major fuck up by him and anyway what a shit nation who couldn’t even hang on to an island next door to them against a country thousands of miles away and giving them weeks and weeks notice . British soldiers lost their lives over there so they get zero respect from me .
 
If its a tight game i can see FIFA resorting to just about anything to get Messi a medal tomorrow .

I'm the same, win more if France win though, so I'll be putting some more on the Argies so both pay similar amounts.
