Don’t think he’s technically limited, in fact think his passing range is probably better than Rodri’s. Judging of one full game when the other ten were pretty shit is a tad unfair.
Have some shame, his passing range is not even close to Rodris'.

Rodri has been playing at an elite level for 6 seasons, La Liga, Champions league, Spain NT, back to back EPL, hes played againts every type of defense you can think of, unlocked all passing ranges and there is INTENT behind his passing, none of this passing 5-10 yards for the sake of it.

Tired of fans not giving him his due respect, we was our best player last season and our most consistent this, fans want to compare him to sideshow bob who's played most of his career in the championship.

Think we won't really rely on him in important games over the next 2 months, but I'd be happy if he could do a job in the final 2-3 months of the season.

I think Rodri is the best pivot in the league, so if anyone isn't giving due respect it's you not appreciating Phillips passing ability and the reasons why we the club think he's a suitable back up to Rodri. So maybe you should show a bit more respect to probably the best manager and DOF in the game when they bring a player in, instead of ridiculous quips like side show Bob.

All respect due to Phillips, but he's a long way off from being mentioned in the same conversation as Rodri.

Nolito, Angelino, Gomez, Torres, Steffen we dont always get it right in the transfer market.

According to Transfermarkt we made a 21 M euro profit on Torres and we won a title with him so he wasn't exactly getting it wrong even if he was a bit injury prone and variable in his performances here. Apart from Nolito I'd say the others were young and a bit speculative when you're going to get some hits and misses. Since Guardiola arrived we've had far more hits than misses in players over about £15M

So far Phillips has had one start playing in front of a bit of a makeshift defense. I would certainly agree he played poorly but its more than a little premature to be calling the transfer a failure based on this. I've no idea how he will turn out but folk calling him a failure on the basis of one performance are absurd.

Yep the difference between Kalvin and Rodri is very similar to the difference between McTominay and Cassemiro.

Torres was alright. Scored a couple goals playing in striker, Pep barely tried him on the wings, and we made a profit off him.

Steffen was always gonna be 2nd choice keeper, and put in solid shifts when called upon, not sure we should have been expecting too much.

I feel it's still early in Gomez's City career, kid has potential but remains to be seen whether he will make it here.

Phillips is coming back off a long injury, I'd be a tad more patient with him.

Crikey....76 pages on performances and he's only started one game! A game that fielded an understrength team, with bizarre tactics and where nobody played well. Wouldn't want some of you as a work colleague if you're that scathing and judgemental already.
He may or may not prove to be a good signing but shouldn't be written off on that disaster of a 90 minutes from the whole team.
I bet a number of people on here slating him thought he was a decent acquisition at £40 million when West Ham wanted 125 for Rice. If that opinion's changed in 90 minutes of football, maybe you can come full circle again in another 90?!!

I'm willing to wait until he's played atleast a dozen games from this injury.

The injury is annoying, his lack of chemistry and rhythm shouldn't be shocking though.

I'd play a midfield 2 with Kevin deeper and use Kalvin as a rotation option either with Rodri or continuing without him.

I know it’s early days but Phillips don’t look great at the min. Plenty of time to turn it around but I am starting to have doubts

He is not good enough with passing/tacking. Bielsa's system made a lot of Leeds players look world beaters. Drop of from Rodri to Philips is huge

He’s not fit and it’s looking more and more like this season is a write-off for him. Hopefully he can do something, but coming on and just giving away a load free-kicks isn’t what we are after.

If Bielsa can make him look like a world-beater then surely, given time, so can Pep.

He's had terrible luck with injuries and has hardly played. It's going to be tough to get him decent minutes this season as long as Rodri's available.

Just needs to train hard, learn what he can, gel with the squad and do his best with the minutes he gets.

He'll be ok when he's fully up to speed and had some game time. Problem is it's hard to see where we can really afford to give him minutes except at the end of games like these when it's already done and dusted.
