PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I don’t know about anyone else but this whole saga has taken over my life in the last few days. I can barely think straight.

The richest team in the world for the past 15 years or so, is falling foul of rules that were apparently brought in to protect clubs from financial ruin. The potential punishment could financially ruin us. Some would say typical City is alive and well. Let’s hope we can still say the same in years to come.

I watched friends of mine go through the Bury saga and what it did to them. That club was potless. Ours is fucking loaded, yet we could meet the same fate.

I am truly disgusted that either situation was allowed to happen. Both at different ends of the spectrum. It shows that FFP isn’t fit for purpose (unless you’re part of the cartel) and it’s farcical that the government can stand by and watch a perfectly successful and solvent business, with nigh on 150 years of history, and with real community value, face this possibility based not on law, but on some made-up fucking rules to keep the same clubs at the top.

Thinking of those clubs, I don’t even think the real fans of those clubs would want this to happen to us. Yeah, the Twitter dickhead brigade and glory-hunters, who latched on to the successful club of the time might want us gone, but I can’t imagine the like of local United fans wanting our rivalry to disappear. It’s that rivalry that has us all so invested in the game. I hate United as much as the next blue, but I hope they are always around.

IMO this is squarely on a minority of people like the Glazers and FSG who have given nothing to this game. Nothing to this country. They’ve seen an opportunity to make money (no issues with that, I’d even say good luck to them) but clearly the huge amounts they’ve made isn’t enough…they want it all and they couldn’t give a fuck who they hurt to get it. A disgrace.
Don't worry. We won't be financially ruined and we won't go the same way as Bury. If anything, I think that we will come out of this in a position of strength. Our relationship with UEFA is strong and healthy as a result of the CAS outcome, when many expected it to deteriorate further.

No.

Police don't have to breathalise everyone on the road to treat people with equality, just have a system where anyone could be breathalised if there's cause.

The der Spiegel report credibly accused us of wrong doing which made the PL open an investigation. Unequal treatment would be if another club had a load of emails hacked, it got reported on and the PL declined to investigate.
I Get what you're saying but if an operator at work claimed the only middle Eastern in the team was sneaking off early and I pulled his access swipes found he was and acted on it without a full sweep I would be carpeted.

The Premier league has failed it own ‘owners charter’
I agree with City hierarchy. We need to be regulated by an independent governing body.

As fans, I also think we should vocally push for the government to step in and take control

I have no confidence in the PL running our game on our behalf.
They have consistently let every football fan down.

Parliament is the last place I would ask to help save our game. But in this instance, it’s the only place to go.
Write to your MP about governance of Premier league football. Mention the Yank owned clubs taking our game away and ruining competition.

I can relate to the way you are feeling right now, but we all need to hold our nerve. The consequences for the PL and MCFC could be extremely serious. Given the enormity of the investments made by the owners over the last decade they could be in a position to sue the PL for 100s of millions. The stakes are too high for compromise, my guess is this will be resolved in the Supreme Court. Maybe watching an actual match will be light relief. Good Luck, Stay strong...

Thought you did well twosips in the overlap and stood our corner well ...had to laugh at the mental gymnastics the Chelsea fan must have been going through when justifying Chelsea's spending over the last 2 windows while at the same time being part of the baying mob criticising City..

A quick thought for dealing with opposing fans. I had a Liverpool fan tell me I should admit some guilt. Of course in the Anglo-American justice system you are innocent until proven guilty. It is idiotic to tell somebody to admit guilt.

I responded with City will have its day in court. He went quiet.

another response that I like as well:

I am confident City's good name will cleared in court.

My point being don't take any grief from opposing fans. Express confidence in public and ignore any bait they send your way. If you become disillusioned come on here and get some support from your fellow fan. We will ride out this storm together as a fanbase.
Dippers, still guilty when proven innocent!

This is very odd what is happening.

Very, very strange.

This Qatari interest and supposed bid for the rags looks like another plot to this charade that is happening at the minute.

And this sheds light on how pathetic and bitter sky sports news and their absolute wankers who present for them.

To go from one day being judge and juror with us to the next day hardly being able to contain their smiles that the rags might get bought out AND have it as their main story is shameful.

I though sky sports was neutral? Everyone treated equally? These cunts had our pants down before the Premier league statement was finished.

I hope we take these twats down too for their bias and slander that heads our way on more than one occasion.
The same sky sports who wouldn’t shut up about the World Cup in Qatar and their human rights laws are now creaming themselves at them taking over the scum!

I have just emailed the new sports minister to urge her to produce the White Paper on football governance and recommended her to have a word with Martin Samuel's for a unbiased opinion. Let's hope she acts quickly.

I can’t wait for Sunday

Let’s show we are one and support the team, manager and the best owner you could ever wish for
Agreed!

I think the Premier League should be investigating themselves and the disgusting reffing that we are currently seeing.

I get the point about the football being boring. Everybody parks the bus against us, we have massive possession but don't get anywhere and face mental time waiting that isn't punished.

The last few games have been a joke. There should be independent time keeping for a start.

Back to the point though. The Club need to man up and get stuck into responding to all the crap that's coming out and responding to the Cartel that want us out but are guilty of FFP themselves.

If we had a petition and got 100,000 signatures does it not have to be debated in Parliament, anyone in the know on this ?

I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our City's home, to ride out the storm of this Premier League war, and to outlive the menace of the Liverpool Untied tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone. At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of ADUG-every man of them. That is the will of the committee and the fans. The City Football Group and the sponsors, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength. Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous clubs have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo-like Premier League and all the odious apparatus of Glazer rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in courts, we shall fight on the terraces and European nights, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend with Lord Panick, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the newspaper courses, we shall fight on the training grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets of Boston, we shall fight in Hillsborough; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this City or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our fans beyond Castlefield and Clayton, armed with flags and guarded by the 1894 Group, would carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the Citizens, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.
