5th choice for me. Surely the best 5th choice centre-back in the league but still, 5th choice.

We've needed him more than most teams would need a number 5, and by and large he's done well.

I'm not going to drag him over the coals for lacking some of the fine margins that make the other 4 better.

Hes 5th choice, i bet even he is surprised that he has played so much but because our defenders can't keep fit what would of been the alternative if he hadn't of been signed.

I have to say though its crazy how a defender of his size and strength is so resistant at heading a ball.

Obviously clichéd and optimistic on my part, but he could just be going through the standard new-player-under-Pep cycle.

Start great by playing their own game -> Fizzle for quite a while as they adapt -> Look great again once it's brought together

Whenever he makes a mistake like giving the ball away in dangerous positions he literally freezes in place for several seconds it's so bizarre.

yet again he willingly just stands off players and let's them cut inside and get a shot off without getting tight and making a block, it's cost us too much already this season and is just basics he needs to be better at that.

He's still an important part of the squad, we cannot have 5 world class centre backs at the club and I don't think we can get a better 5th choice.

I expect he will gradually find himself being the clear 5th choice from here on unless there's another injury pile up.

Getting fucking bulled by guys half his size. He lacks the mentality needed to be at a top, top team IMO. Even on the goal we conceded, he's late to react and then doesn't fully commit to the tackle. Was the same story at the World Cup..

Very poor.

Stopped when running at their goalscorer and allowed him to shoot, gave the ball away which caused a 1v1 with Ederson that nearly made it 3-2.

Slow and ponderous passing.
The one that they hit the bar with near the end, I though he could have headed that away but was weak in the challenge and it went over him.

He is what he is…a good back up defender. The problem we have with CBs is why (a) he was bought and (b) why he is seeing so much playing time. We need our first choice defenders starting more regularly to have any chance. Feel so much more robust team with Dias/Laporte/stones.

Good player but he has limitations and is beings used far too much to cover.

Could veyr well be and i hope so, but at the moment he’s a liability.
