North Stand Construction Discussion

Considering tens of thousands are losing their parking spaces the Transport Strategy is derisory.
240 new cycle spaces, enhancing metrolink queue facilities, trialling more buses to the town centre (which will get stuck in traffic and end of trial).

The bit that shows it is all bollocks is this:
  • Further improvements as required to walking and cycling routes.
Where are these, and how have they been enhanced in the past?

  • We will continue our discussions with Metrolink to review frequency of trams and improved service provision.
Hasn't this been happening for ten years and nothing? Happy no one queues for longer than 35 mins in 2013.

What happens on NYD and Boxing Day with no public transport in most areas, or night matches when last bus train is 10pm?

Do city have any idea how people currently travel to games, how is it sustainable (not stated what context it is used in)? It isn't economically for the fans if £5 petrol for 4 becomes £50+ paying for train tram taxi.

Never trains Boxing Day but sure the trams run. Trains and trams run NYD.

Well done in digging down for a negative. Maybe wait and see the proposals before whining about it.
valid concerns mate. I too am very dubious about the travel strategy as stated. We have been hearing about improvements to the metro service for years and seen nil improvement.
The transport strategy will form 80% of my feedback to the club.

Some trains run NYD, over the past 20 years once my local ones have in 2019 when we didn't play. No buses either.

Getting to a tram is the issue.

I understand it will be....

' The Kippax North Stand '

The synergy twixt our final years at Maine Road !!

That'll do.

Ps - I also understand that the new stand will be jointly opend by Kun Aguero & David Silva with a whole host of past players in attendance.

How does that sound ?

Have you genuinely heard the Kippax name mooted?

Can definitely see the opening/test event being a game for Aguero/Silva.

Of course they are valid , but picking out just that from everything I find a bit weird. Also the poster seems to have made up their mind when at the moment all they have said is they are consulting with all the relevant partners on solutions. I'm sure they are well aware of the problem and as you say many will feedback concerns on transport as part of the consultation.

Evacuate them from SS3 (&SS2) and bend em round the lower corner of SS1 &ES1 similar to the Dubai Emirates.

Relocate the 'singing section' in ES1 to SS3 where the views are better.

SS3 becomes exclusively a second home end.

The away fans can still be corralled for their access/egress and coaches.

It can be achieved at relatively low cost and would complete the reorganisation of the ground to the advantage of fans, safety and atmosphere.

Where there's a will there's a way !!
So who is gonna fill the new stand

we’ve only had one home Boxing Day game in recent years so hardly think that’s been big on their pad

I hope we are all making the point on the consultation that the new stand needs to aimed and priced to allow the local working class support to attend - this is a great opportunity to really make our home atmosphere something special if done right
Totally agree and I would add the importance of improving transport facilities.
