Think its worth remembering he's played in multiple formations since Christmas and he's lost the default out-ball to Cancelo, which was our go to. He distributes instantly to areas, but those areas are in flux at the moment.

It's pretty telling he's never once been on the chopping block for us and no one ever names a viable, definitely better, as capable in all areas, replacement.

I'm not sure there'd even be many better shot stoppers for the one man completely on his own, whole goal to aim at, no pressure chances we give up, everyone would concede most of those.

i don't blame you with stats like this

Ederson - 90.4%

Manuel Neuer - 86%

Marc-Andre ter Stegen - 85.4%

last week it was his saving ability, this week because he didn't let a goal in its his kicking , people on this thread are starting to look a bit scapegoaty

Where am I scapegoating him or even mentioning his passing success rate?

I’ve said the calmness I had has turned into nerves recently. The same opinion applies whether he has a 40% passing success rate or a 100% success rate.

Having a fucking opinion that is not all roses doesn’t mean he’s being scapegoated ffs.

You can't move for the media coverage of Ederson's 100 cleans sheets. BBC with how he reached it, The Mail with a focus on his showstopper stopping, and the MUEN with a double page piece. Can't wait to see a history of Ederson's tattoos in Tattooist Weekly.

I think by his standards, he's had a below par season , but so have a few other players. However You look through all the other keepers in the Premier league and I wouldn't swap him for anyone, you could maybe put an argument in for Alison at Liverpool. I think that shows how good he's been for us over the past few seasons.

An arguement for allisson? Lol, he is terrible at distribution and has made many more mistakes than eddie and he is not capable of the pinpoint long balls/passes

I don't know if it's me expecting certain things from him but his kicking has been a bit shit all season. In my (humble, probably controversial) opinion anyway.

It's been nowhere near the standard it has been since he came here in 2017 and considering that's the main reason he starts in this team then questions are absolutely right to be asked of him. Again, IMO.

Whenever Ortega plays he seems quicker with his passing and seems to be braver with it too (the actual pass that is) in terms of finding the two 8s. His shot stopping is obviously better as well.

But for some reason I have some sort of blind alliance to Ederson in the sense I don't think he should be dropped yet. But I don't think should be as set in stone in the team as he seems to be.

It's not an argument from me I prefer Ederson, but Liverpool fans will tell you Alison has been excellent this season and they wouldn't swap him, alot of general football fans I've heard say they prefer Alison and the Brazilian team boss prefers Alison. I wouldn't swap Ederson myself!

His short distribution is far far worse than Ederson but I'd say his long distribution is pretty similar. It might be that he uses it far more in their system, though.

Alisson is a far superior shot stopper IMO but I reckon Pep still picks Ederson due to the short stuff and the risk reward that it gives us IF teams press high.

Time to bin him off for good the blokes a complete liability. He’ll come flying out one game & it’ll cost us big time
