I got gripped by a scuffer at Moorgate but wriggled away fortunately however 150 City were locked up and sent back home later after the dibble shoved the Guvnors into two tube carriages. Funny that the game ended up friendly.

Also recall one of theirs got seriously attacked outside the Etihad a few years ago. That didn’t go down well with a lot of Blues.
Think the take from this is that no matter how much respect 2 sets of fans have for one another there's always elements to be wary of. Tbf that could be said for anyone.

Agree with most of the above but a lot over simplifies what going to matches was like in the 80s. The ICF were in the top 2 or 3 firms in '87. They had brought possibly the biggest firm I'd ever seen to Maine Road earlier that season. Going to Upton Park was always dodgy for all teams. That day in May I suspect City took more than any team had done during the hooligan era. That includes the Cockney clubs.
I remember getting there and you could pay on the gate and stewards/police had to open a section usually used for segregation to allow all the City fans in. It was a brilliant turn out by us and a lot of handy lads too. Trouble seemed inevitable. At the end when WH came on the pitch I thought all hell would break loose but genuinely think there was mutual admiration from both sets of fans which has lasted to this day. A day never to be forgotten. Liked them ever since, even more after today. COYI

Not quite the same as my recollection. Certainly a decent turnout but think we only had the corner bit and I don’t recall it being that packed particularly. Was a good day out though.

December 1967.

CITYs Champions team was coming together, Francis Lee had recently signed.

City beat wet spam 4-2 with a superb performance on a shit pitch.

It was the first time I’d seen a mob tooled up with meat hooks, iron bars, billiard balls etc.

They were a bloody rough lot and well organised. It was a rolling brawl all the way back to the coaches....no friendships in those days.

I'm sure they did us a favour in pellegrini's last season in charge by beating united 3.2 in the last game at Upton Park.
Yep, we only just finished in the CL spots ahead of United on goal difference that season. West Ham made a huge difference to our coffers there!

(Our last 14 games of that season we W5 D4 L5 Pts19/42… that’s really mediocre!)

Wasn’t around for that 87 match but started going around mid to late 90’s , us and you were always in and around the same sort of positions in the PL with Man Utd taking the piss… so there was always that mutual aspect and enjoyed watching and had a soft spot for City aswell as a kid - Kinkladze, Dickov , Quinn. Legends

Then we had some players between us - Steve Lomas, Foe, Wanchope, Dave James.

So deffo a bit bromance - not sure if it would stay that way if we was batting the title with you lot though! Which you haven’t got to worry about - but such is social media nowadays there would always be some morons fuelling hatred either side. Would be plenty of ‘used to admire West Ham but …. ‘

We’re a good set of fans, loyal , loud and would probably sell out the odd game in the Championship - but Christ our fans can be fools and thick at time - vast majority of fans always ready to turn on the manager after a bad patch and then it snowballs and gets silly, booing whatever subs etc. thank god our owners ignore them. Apologies went off tangent there.

Anyway, glad we could be of help yesterday. Don’t cock up and win the league!

Up the Hammers
