PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The PL have announced the phased termination of Betting companies as shirt sponsors. Along with our charges and Everton's it seems they are doing their utmost to look squeaky clean to avoid an independent regulator. Is it a strategy to give them negotiation power ? or do they really think they can stop the government white paper. I wouldn't be surprised if more clubs, apart from a certain gang of four, will get clumped any day now.
It's a bit shit though, no changes for years and clubs can still have betting logos on sleeves & around the pitch.

All a bit pointless banning them from the shirts when they're backdropped by huge flashing gambling adverts all around the pitch, sky sports 'news' drop the skybet odds into their reports and Ray Winstone is still telling us to lump it on the acca or cash aaaat at half time.

Bit like telling your kid they can't have a lollipop until they've finished their kilo of sugar lumps.

But gamble aware, of course

Anybody know anything about this guy on Twitter? If what he says is true….!View attachment 75476
So party time? Or a tad premature?

The timeline from the legal eagles suggest two years at the earliest but if it’s all a load of bum fluff from the league then an early outcome would be great. Time to put away the noose…for now -:)

The first time I saw a posting to the effect that the charges boiled down to a few main aspects and all but one had more or less already been refuted was by @tolmie's hairdoo on here (I stand to be corrected if that's wrong). This guy's wording seems fairly similar to me, while he also includes the formulation "I've heard ...", which I find rather vague and unsatisfactory. It certainly lacks a claim of a source with any authority.

I see from Twitter that City Rabin thinks this guy will be reliable, and maybe he does have a source of his own. My guess, though, would be that tolmie's information is doing the rounds and this guy has just picked up on it.

He’s good mates with cheesy and ian had a reputable source for the CAS case. I’d bet it’s the same person it’s all come from in my opinion.

Good news if so

There seems to be a suggestion that it’s come from a “former player/employee who’s just about to retire”. If so that’s really out of character cos he’s usually very guarded when talking about stuff like that.

If and that’s a big if, City are successful in the title race won’t that make the congratulations from the Premier league very awkward? They’ve sat on this investigation since February 2020 and done nothing whilst two other league titles have been won as well. Doesn’t make them look like a well run organisation does it?
