North Stand Construction Discussion

I can't be the only one who thinks the hotel looks absolutely hideous.
It will look utterly dated and doesn't match the design of the stadium at all.
I'm not sure on the what looks like brickwork, but I guarantee it'll look a whole lot different in the flesh. I suspect they have tried not to "cheapify" it with colours early doors to factor in it's multipurpose away from football.

It's worth having a look at the Hilton's at Old Trafford and the Rose Bowl with regards to hotels at venues. I actually think they are a really difficult thing to find a happy medium on design-wise.

Looks like a shitty 1970s office block in Salford where I used to work.
I am sure it will be better than some of the hideous deveolopment around Wembley Stadium though. That area really is a complete mess and that has destroyed the visual impact of the stadium itself. Wembley doesn't compare with so many of the newer German stadia surrounded by parks etc or the improved grounds for Atleti and Real Madrid.

Curva South - AC Milan.

Forget the drums, drum haters. ;-) This is what our support could be like at the front of L2. The singing from L2 reverberates around the San Siro.

Can anybody tell me what they expected a hotel to look like z,
I think think think the whole design is wonderful, my only gripe is putting hospitality seats at the front of the new tier ! Let's see what people's views are once it's completed!

So do I, fwiw. Personal opinion on the hotel element aside, as my only gripe. The hospitality, I am open to that not being what is speculated, for the time being.

Just a reminder that after this phase of the the stadium revamp the next phase is a external wrap so perhaps the new design and architecture is a glimpse of what the club have in mind for the wrap ! The only way to make the new extention match the original design would to build every thing in the drab grey of the existing exterior ? For those who went to Munich I found the exterior of the Allianze Arena a let down ! It's excellent inside but outside its in a barren landscape and the tyre come bubble wrap exterior is pretty drab !

Some expected it to look like a 7 star in Abu Dhabi ;)

A. I doubt that. B. The star rating has nothing to do with appearence. C. This hotel doesn't look 'cheap', it looks bland, so it is a poor comparison regardless. D. Even if some did expect that, what's wrong with that? E. bit of an odd link to make given our owners.

The current Joe’s sections are there. Obviously it won’t be called Joe’s on NSL2.

I’ve never been into either Joe’s, so I’ll ask the question. Is there much singing and chanting going on in either Joe’s during the
I don’t doubt that for the big matches, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Later stages of the CL, etc.

I stand corrected, but I doubt there’s be much singing for the lesser games when people are sat down and seats remain unsold in the hospitality section.

We all have to remember Pep and many of the current players won’t be here when the new stand is opened in 3 years time, and 9000+ extra seats have to be filled. Unless Pep signs another final extension to his current contract. :-)
Waiting list for Joes.

Having considered I’m veering this way now. If they made the front tier the family stand and had the vocal area for the whole of tier 2 behind the exec seats it could actually compress the vocal fans where they can make the most noise - the back half of the stand. There won’t be any banners hanging though which doesn’t really bother me but I know it will bother some.
The lack of banner and tifo issues don’t bother me. I’m more bothered that people shout, scream, sing, support the team and lose their voice like I do every week. Bring the noise, rather than the spectacle

Another point. Having a corporate section at the front of the 2nd tier will also provide a further buffer between the 1st and 2nd tiers. This will make it even harder for a co-ordinated atmosphere to take shape.
For fucks sake lads. GA + (Joes) is not corporate. It’s just premium General Admission seating. Joes East (207/208) is noisy as hell when it gets going… due to the proximity of the singing sections & away fans.
