Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Leeds outsang us for pretty much the whole 90 mins, other than right after our goals :( Honestly, we have to be better than this, considering what the players are fighting for. Our players are handicapped not just by the officials at times, but also by our home support in games like this. Our support is honestly shite. It’s all well and good singing against Arsenal, but tbh they don’t really need us in those games. They need us on days like today.
Leeds only started singing last 20 and it was a classic were shite so let's sing out hearts out cuz we've got nowt better to do. I thought we were ok throughout nothing special, Saturday 3 o'clock made a difference for me. Then again I'm in the south stand so can't comment on the rest of the stadium. I can't even imagine sitting anywhere else TBh as it looks dead most the time!

The bars need to be larger, or even have contempt staff behind serving people.

They could do what they have in the Arena, and other major music venues and have pop up stands for people to get food and drink.
They used to have the staff walking round with canisters on back which could fill pints up and you paid them direct

What happened to them

Talking of beers I sit in the South Stand not saying where but we get 3 beers for a tenner ( cash ) .

From 207 which I think is a pretty good spot to hear the noise from the entire South Stand I thought the first half was pretty even but the second half they outsang us by miles unfortunately.
314 here, and I agree with the above assessment.

Early leavers will only be solved with better transport links/options. Maybe the new stand extension and food/bars will help keep people knocking about rather than heading straight home or to town for a beer.

They didn't at all. I was in 110 opposite them and we definitely out sung them. Where were you?
I’m also in 110 and it can feel as though we are being loud in the few blocks at kippax corner when we get going- in reality though to the rest of the ground it doesn’t sound loud. The acoustics aren’t great and it’s a relatively small number of fans singing in a small area of the ground. Mix that with the fact we rarely sing the same song as the south stand and sometimes it’ll probably sound like we are competing with them to the rest of the ground or just a indistinguishable noise. Do you not notice that the rest of the ground only really joins in when SS1 or SS3 get going?

The new North Stand has to be the focus of the main singing section, as it is now we have three groups of singers, ss1, ss3 and the Kippax Corner, I'm sure at one time yesterday all 3 sections were singing different songs, we need one mass singing ONE song...

That’s a bit of a sweeping statement.
As I 49 years season ticket holder, and I sit with a least 10 other friends who have also served similar length of time, I think I left once early in all that time. And a relative had died. That was at least 20 years ago.

I don’t think it’s a sweeping statement. If you attend both premier league and champions league games you’ll see a difference. I see way more people staying until the end in champions league games

I don’t really agree with your last point. When 110/111 get going more of the ground join in, especially the east stand. Ss3 is the loudest part of the ground for me

Even other cup games you see a difference. I only did Burnley in the FA Cup this year but it was quite evident that a lot more didn't take the team for granted and were there at the end.

Sadly the cup games seem to be catching up to league prices. This year we've drawn a lot of bigger teams though and hope it's just an anomaly as it might be some individuals' only chance of getting to watch us in the flesh.

You may have got out sung up there by Leeds fans but in 109 110 111 and South stand lower definitely outsang Leeds fans for most of the game

Correct. We did out sing the Leeds fans in SSL1 by a mile. The Leeds fans were quiet in SSL1 for large parts of the game until they scored.

My mate, who is a Leeds fan, and a 'football fan', loves watching City play, was stood next to me in 115. He was impressed with City's support and the different chants.

After the match I met a couple of mates in town. 2 of their mates, both from Glasgow, 1 a Celtic fan, 1 a Rangers fan, went to the match and also said our support was good. The Celtic fan did say that most of the noise came from the fans in one end of the ground, and more noise needed to come from the fans in the other parts of the ground.

100% agreed

We are to reactive in most games at home.

We have to start our atmosphere and keep it going as we do in away games.

To often we let the aways get going and then respond....as i felt we did we did yesterday.

We made some noise but it was never intense and to achieve that we need to concentrate on the simple classics afore moving on to the latest & newest songs which are good but not intense.

Easy to solve

allow alcohol to be drank in the stands
Nooooo! It’s a fucking nightmare at the rugby with fans constantly in-and-out going to the bar and having to move to let people past all the time. Beer spilt over your shoes and you miss half the game. Then when a try is scored, beer just gets thrown over everybody.

It’s one of the reasons I’ve stopped going to the rugby since Covid.

Don’t know about Rugby but you’re right we don’t need to give our own fans more reason to leave their seats. Plus knobheads launching beer etc - no thanks.
