Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

Absolutely pathetic comment what a bellend you are it's because of muppets like you that The Etihad gets stick

I was inside the ground 115 absolutely fucking rocking but you watch on TV and make a stupid statement because BT Sports like to concentrate on the Day trippers rather than the chaotic South Stand.

Unbelievable.
I was in 115 and it was a bear pit! If you want orchestrated manufactured unresponsive atmospheres, then people should follow German football, if you want passionate, sometimes chaotic, responsive, loud & loyal support, then there aren’t many better than last night, it isn’t all about the singing either, you’ve got the jeering, cheering a tackle, clapping great play, pressurising the ref, and letting the opposition know you are there and they’re on your turf, we did that fantastically last night. Tv companies rightly or wrongly sanitise atmospheres & pan cameras round to safe options in the crowd, if a company wants to get ahead of the competition then they should be looking at improving this so it is more immersive for the viewer, anyone who thinks last nights atmosphere was crap obviously wasn’t there

There’s a halfway house.

The Inter Milan v AC Milan atmosphere over both legs was superb. They both have huge Ultra support, which includes waving flags for 90 minutes, etc. When both supports were at home and had the majority of the support in the San Siro, the whole of the San Siro was singing on both occasions, which was started by the Ultras, just like most of our chants are started by SSL1. The German Ultras are totally different. Their support is properly orchestrated with one end of the ground doing most of the chanting throughout the game.

I was in 219, look up, across and down over the South Stand last night, never seen it as rocking. I said to a bloke at half time that I'd never heard it as loud and ferocious in the ground as that last night (the Liverpool 2-1 was close to it). Surprise surprise watched the game back this morning on BT and it had clearly been turned down on the mics. I don't get it.

I just watched the replay of the 2nd half on BT. Sound quality was great. The advert break came on and straight after just before our 3rd, it was like the commentators had bern moved to their own private booth and the game was being played in the next room. WTF.
The first half in that replay today was worse, they played the sound of the ref blowing his whistle but we had the ball & play was ongoing, they had our fans booing when we had the ball, you know the kind we where dishing out when they had it, they had fans singing two different songs in the same phase of play, it was absolutely thrown together

They do it on purpose. The club need to look into why this is happening, but they won’t. But those magical European nights at Anfield come across loud and clear on BT TV.

It's fucking sinister to me. There's instances where you can clearly hear the Ederson and Ake chant, which was pretty constant and sang by loads more than usual then the volume suddenly drops right down so it sounds like it's being sang 1000 miles away in a shoe box. Bizarre that they keep doing it.

It’s not season ticket holders that missed out. It’s Cityzen members who go to loads of games who had to effectively enter a lottery for tickets with people who bought a membership the same day.
Isn’t it obvious why they did it the way they did?

they are trying to grow the fan base to sell out another 9k seats every game

you don’t grow anything by selling tickets to a group of fans that go to most games anyway

No doubt their atmospheres are great at times, for the most part though Italian football is played in half empty stadiums, with small allocations for away fans, where the ultras echo their songs around a barren stadium, their displays/flags are also decent, but could you imagine a City v Rags CL semi and the kind of atmosphere that could generate ? it would be off the scale, we also have a great collection of flags/displays which I know you’re heavily involved with, good enough to compete with anyone in Europe, especially the top clubs, fwiw I thought the club did a great job with the ticker tape, flags & smokes outside, it definitely added to the occasion, all in all a top night which I hope we can at least replicate on Sunday

No, the atmosphere in both matches wasn’t great at times, it was great all the time in both matches. I watched both matches.

A lot of the Italian stadiums aren’t as barren as you think they are. Only when you get to the smaller clubs in Serie A do the attendances drop off.

When we play Inter in Istanbul you’ll see and hear what their support is like. Hopefully we’ll be just as loud.

Couple of tourists next to us - but dressed in city shirts draped in a Swiss flag and trying to attract Akanji's attention. They were bouncing around at the chances and goals - so proper fans.

We do have to clear the thicker tourists out before games - they think their tickets say Row B - and are delighted with the view - until we send them packing to Row BB - had some last night trying to argue that we were wrong - but they soon got moving.

But as to atmospheres it was rocking in EL3 and we even managed a Poznan.

Atmosphere was fantastic last night one of the best. I will not have anyone say otherwise. The whole South Stand was brilliant. Up on SS3 it was bouncing all game.

I have noticed for a long time now that the tv companies will pan to our most calm areas of our crowd (usually the family stand no offence to anyone there) and make us look to passive and I have watched highlights back they have 100% lowered the microphone volume as they always do with us to again make us look as passive plastic fans.

We were fantastic last night and when we have needed to be we always are.

City Till We Die all of us and another fantastic atmosphere Sunday is required which I am sure we will provide

I never said it wasn’t, I was alluding to the rest of the season, I know their support is decent & they’ll no doubt turn up in Istanbul but imho Italian football isn’t the Mecca for football support or average attendance v capacity
