Nah, he’ll stay. I think it’s bernardo and we’ll buy an rw too since bernardo is both a cm and an rw.

Agree as Phil and Kovacic will both replace Bernardo centrally. City will have MORE games next season, Club World Cup mid season and KDB is fragile... City will probably go for a winger to replace Bernardo and then another winger if Mahrez does depart. Gundo staying would be massive.

Gundo staying is sooo important for the refocus in august.

He’ll be a perfect captain to manage the natural drop off from this treble season.
 
There's not one person on here who's seen him play for Chelsea and thought "ooh I'll have a bit of that". It's bollocks if you say otherwise. The smoking gun is the thread only started in Feb 2023. The reason - he's not anything worth getting excited about. Hope I'm wrong if we sign him.

Same could be said of Akanji, Ake, Rodri and a few more. It doesn’t excite me either but Pep wants him. I’m forced to concede that he’s a better judge than me.

Not being argumentative, I have actually thought he plays well against us

I watched one of their end of season games without my glasses and I thought he was Enzo for 20 minutes, he stood out as being the best and most positionally sound of the 3 that were in midfield.

I think he is just a really solid player, adds some steel as well

Think we’re going to need a bit more steel along with his Croatian teammate. I’ve got a feeling that a lot more teams will want to kick us about a bit next season.
 
I think expecting Phillips to dethrone Rodri ( one of Europe's best midfielders) in his 1st season is a little harsh. When he has come on recently I have been pleased. That header that hit the post was excellent. 2 inches to the left and it was a goal. His passing has been good. I would agree he is not mobile enough at tracking back but I presume City are on this and the coaches will be helping him adjust from a team that has been relegated to a team who have won the treble. Apart from Haaland not many who come to City in the last 7 years have displaced squad members. At least give him till Xmas.

Disagree, 2 seasons ago I turned n said to my son who knows his football, Kovacic is running show here, he's was excellent, his reply.... A typical pep player. He breaks the lines so well. Leave the recruitment to the experts mate.
