Declan Rice

I doubt they are thinking about school. Im talking about being in a situation where your not 20 mins away from all yor immediate family. Especially his missus who will be doing alot of the nappy changing ect - does she wants a family aperatus within range to help raise the child? Or go solo in Manchester? Even for people with money, which the Rice's will have - they would want family around.

20 mins away?

It’s London, 2 fucking hours to move 200 yards!

Wouldn't be a fan of the move
I feel the same... I wouldn't hate it but I feel like Stones has done more than good enough there that we don't need to spend 90+ million on a player who will just more or less sit next to Rodri.

In your opinion how hard would it be for city to change his mind about staying in London?

This is the only reason I think it may have legs.

I know for a fact he turned united down.

The London thing is primarily down to his camp thinking there's a genuine balance to his lifestyle and sporting ambitions if he went to Arsenal.

But if city are serious and lodge a bid I think he'd run to Manchester. But they will not say that as they won't sit around and effectively be a plan b for another player which is what Chelsea did last season to them and to a lesser extent City did when buying Phillips.

You are third behind Chelsea and United in the net spend league over the last 5 seasons to be fair. A good £260 million ahead of us. Before Arteta came along you spunked a lot of money on the likes of Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette et al.

Don’t forget the £72m on Pepe….

Also people need to understand how quickly these things can change.

We've seen it with Van Persie, Dani Alves, Mbappe and others. Even Laporte first time. Last minute tangents.

I know a few years ago the same camp had a lesser player with bags packed for Milan which was a dream move and en route to the airport to join his dream club he was diverted to a poor Newcastle side because the contract had an extra 12 months.

Football is mad.

His 'Camp', like a posse, the kind Floyd Mayweather has, where about two dozen sidekicks follow him around all day to signify his importance?

Im pretty sure Rice will make the decision in consultation with the mother of his child. I doubt there is committee on the future of Declan Rice with 15 members UN style.

Good story though.

Him, agent, solicitor, family. Camp.

I can tell you it's very true, but not for the reasons people think and the London thing isn't set in stone, its something else driving it.

I get some good inside info on this one and have done for a few years now.

But there's a reason for it. City have had talks several times, but all they are are talks. His people are sick of "talks".

They were absolutely convinced he was going to Chelsea for two solid years. Last year Boehly did with him what he did with Ake. It left his team fuming and they absolutely do not want to be burned again.

I've asked but haven't heard back so my guess on today is one of two things.

1. West Ham are using City's name to drive the price up and speed a deal

or

2. City are genuine and have gone straight to West Ham to prove they are serious this time before talking to the Rice camp.

Tactically my guess is that if we are in for him Phillips is going the other way and/or Pep may look at another evolution and move Stones to RB where he can do John Stones things, with Rodri and Rice ahead and some sort of crazy thing up front to get Alvarez in more. I think buying Rice could signify a switch to a back 3.
More likely the latter, only going by the fact that Ornstein's, more than the London journos, on it. No way he puts that story out without double checking it with the City hierarchy (well-known he's close to Berrada),,and if we were just 'monitoring', City would have just said it's not a goer and 'save face', which says it's way more than just interest at this stage. How far we push it remains to be seen though.

I bet you couldn't name that player though.

Also interesting route. Not much north of Newcastle aside from Scotland, Milan bound and diverted to Newcastle airport you say?

You’re a bit of a snide poster tbh. He owes you fuck all explanations due to your shitty way of putting yourself across. There’s fuck all ‘humbled’ about you.

Are we not allowed to get better too?

As for Chelsea, Boehly is shaping up to be a Mike Ashley type owner. People pinning expectation on a Chelsea resurgence may end up very wrong. Its one thing to have an off season, but to accumulate less than 50 points - thats systemic issues.

I don’t think anyone on here will be pinning expectations on Chelsea.

I did think you did brilliantly last year until the pressure got to the squad. I think this year it will be even harder.

My only issue is when playing for England he doesn't show for the ball enough in the build up. This is vital to how we play. If he does sign hopefully Pep can coach that out of him and unlock the rest of his game. He seems to have the personality that we crave and Pep often talks about how important that is.

Simple. Are you prepared to move to Manchester with your family? Sorry no. City move on. There isn't any other reason why he wouldn't pick Pep and the treble winners over Arsenal. If Arsenal get him, they will have a fantastic young team for years to come. Which is a worry.
