Txiki and co asked Haaland about Akanji before going for him… I mean if the club is asking the England players about what Rice is about and his personal traits I do think they know there is some real interest.How would our players know how serious our interest is? Hes not good enough. It was such a poor transfer decision by us even before this shambles of a season he’s just had.
If we can get Rice with him going the other way it would be an absolute god send.
(Seems a nice guy though and popular with all the players but unfortunately he has to go for me)

We could always do what Klopp did. Finish 5th, season ending in March & blame it on fatigue.I very much doubt the PL nonsense will put players off - I suspect Txiki’s phone is on fire with agents calling him. I think one of the major issues for this window is accounting for the impact of the last 3 months of this season - players are not going to recover physicallu or mentally in three weeks (they will be exhausted) so we need to refresh things and cover a lengthy lay off for KGB. Kovatic makes perfect sense, knows the league and won’t be around long enough to block the pathway for youth players. I suspect next season we will needto make sure we are still in the mix until the New Year and then see if we can go on the rampage again…. But we shouldn’t underestimate what the last few months took out of all of us... game after game was must win with little margin for error.

He posted congrats soon after we won last Saturday.He knows what he left behind at City, and so he may have a different appreciation now of what it means to play for City and how good he had it first time around.
Thought he played very well against us last season, particularly in the first leg.
I also seem to remember that he visited the CFA for a social call when he was in Manchester last year, so it would appear that he still has some affection for us.
