If Labour get in to power, I assume we all agree they are going to be more interventionist and they have a wish list to pay for, plus above inflation pay demands by Public Sector employees in order to catch up.
It will all have to be paid for through higher taxes

Lessons never seem to be learned. They can set up their Head Offices anywhere in the world. That’s why we lost 2000 high grade jobs when Astra Zenica cancelled its plans for Macclesfield and moved them to an Ireland. It doesn’t take a genius to work out why, a far lower Corporation Tax rate over there.

The whole way the tax system was set up under all Governments makes taxes for some , almost voluntary unless you’re a poor bugger on PAYE. Tax avoidance and evasion is rife so those need sorting out before going asking Joe Public for more of their hard earned.
End payments in cash, remove tax incentives and require submission of all accounting records for scrutiny by properly trained HMRC staff would make “ customers” think twice before evading.

Tax returns as a public record would too.

Privatisation of all the essential services led to the rich getting richer selling off the collective assets we all paid for via Tax and insurance so there is nothing left of the society that dreamt of equality for all


Is that the USA the land of the free where sleeping rough and crime is far worse than our country and if you can’t afford a doctor your health suffers.
This is not about what other country’s do, I love this country and what we once had is largely lost, having a health service free and fit for the future when a Pandemic hits is a top priority IMO

Her and Reagan have a lot to answer for.

Conservatives have gone, I am dreading a labour government and Lib dems will never get in.
It's all very sad.

I'd like to see the Greens get a go. However in this FPTP system it will never happen. The two main parties won't vote for PR as that would show a true reflection of the people's political allegiances, and the government would have to act accordingly and not to their donors first.

Whilst tax doubtless an issue, AstraZeneca has stopped major capital investment in the UK since Brexit. And it was not a headquarters, and actually just 100, nowhere near 2,000 jobs.
