I’d love Rice in the middle. He’s already talented, has those leadership qualities & is the perfect age profile for the squad. I think both him & Rodri are both capable of playing further forwards in the Gundogan slot so any midfield 3 with them 2 in the side would work really well. And they provide some cover should either of them get injured. Keeping Rodri fit at the moment is critical to our success and anything that avoids that being a complete disaster is worth a bit of investment.

i`m hopeful any players we can include benefit the hammers more than any arsenal players? Also, i do believe they would rather sell to us than them as well? Easier to justify selling him to the champions and not standing in his way of going for a title again etc?

Philips would be mad to stay here if he values playing time,and ultimately his career.

We haven't made this move without a firm indication Rice would first choose us.

There is no advantage to be gained being publicly snubbed in favour of a team that hasn't won a league title for two decades and never been Champions of Europe.

Added to the fact, it makes a rod for City's back then trying to sign an alternative and being quoted ridiculous figures by other clubs.

City don't reveal their hand, albeit Sullivan isn't exactly helping by briefing off the record how strong our interest is.
