PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

So, with the revelation being old news is this more or less likely to have been a steer from the PL investigation panel?
I think this is unlikely to have come from the PL investigation not least because it only damages their case. I supect it has been a fishing expedition by Matt Lawton who no doubt spoke to Nick MCgeehan an an attempt to find some sort of angle on City during "the silly season" when there is not much news around. The youtube video is essentially a fake news story designed to damage City but personally I don't think that even someone as stupid as Richard Masters would have been involved. On the other hand it makes The Times look stupid for running a three-year-old story as a new one. They already got their fingers burned during the UEFA investigation when they ran some leaks which turned out to be false.

So why do the charges go back to 2012? Anything older than 2018 will be time barred and will be a non-starter if true

If it involves concealment/fraud/false accounting - which these charges do - it's not time barred. But they have to prove the false accounting/fraud/concealment part first, if they can't prove that then much of the substance becomes time barred.

So they are getting the pitch forks out for £30 million split over two years. It’s desperate desperate stuff, the club have been fined nearly £60 million between 2014 and 2020 and given a squad reduction during that time. If you add all that up, what financial advantage have the club got from it?

Chelsea have written off £1.5 billion from their previous owner and are now embarking in n some very suspect activity of selling off their bloated squad to balance the books. Nothing to see here.
Exactly what I’ve been posting for nearly 18 months pal

Excuse my ignorance will stuff like this not be in our favour? I know it’s not like a normal criminal trial but this would then affect a trial and be thrown out.

Feel free to say hello to him walking down the High Street in Altrincham.

Hi Matt

Just saw the David Dein clip. Ha ha - fair play to him. I don’t think Morgan was expecting that - probably thought a fellow Gooner would go all in on us!
Yes I was pleasantly surprised by both Dein and Oakshot. Lawton is a prize knob.
Fwiw agree with DD RE time wasting and penalties.

That mp was useless, City voted for an independent regulator.

Has anyone watched this Moron shite so the rest of us didn’t have to?
What’s the gist of it? (In 10 words or less)
I’m guessing it’s a nothingburger.

I heard from someone who knows about IT security that Raul Pinto sent very basic phishing emails that dumb fucks opened and clicked on dodgy attachments. There was nothing sophisticated.
Still, companies usually have security software which automatically detects then warns users if an email is suspicious, on top of the endless user awareness training etc..

Maybe that wasn't so prevalent back in those days.

Spot-on. This is the definition of bad faith. These payments were already considered and dismissed by CAS after the UEFA case. They actually date back to a period before FFP was implemented by the PL. They were mentioned in a story in the Guardian in 2020 and City confirmed them to UEFA and provided the club's explanation. Presumably the auditors would also have been aware of them. But we passed the various audits, UEFA took no action, and CAS dismissed them anyway. Is this some sort of bombshell. Matt Lawton has made a fool of himself and his newspaper again.

Has anyone got a link to the doc? I’m assuming it’s the etisalat deal, in which case it wasn’t adjudicated on by CAS aside to say it was outside of the time limitation.
