Actually a little disappointed we never closed this yesterday for a 6 year deal, seems a huge missed opportunity!

We could get him tomorrow on a 6 year deal.

Wasn't it at the presentation of the PL trophy against Chelsea that Laporte was crying at the end? Surely there could be no clearer sign that he expects to leave? (And maybe doesn't particularly want to). I think he's a class player, incidentally. But we've never — in the history of the club — been so well stocked across the back. We won't go above 80m for Gvardiol I don't think.

Because they will charge a kings ransom for him just like Napoli did with Koulibaly.

I just think we will spend a few months haggling over the fee and eventually we will walk away from the deal.

Hope I'm wrong, but I just think that's how we do things. We stick to a transfer strategy and won't overpay unless a player has a release clause and the club say they won't sell him for less than the release clause (such as Grealish).

Yes before 1st July when the new rules began, hence why it would have been brilliant to sign him before that

So I gave you my reason why I don't think this deal will happen quickly.

These types of deals never happen quickly. Especially ones where the selling club want a big amount for him and don't really want to sell him. Don't have any reason to sell him either.
