It will not help our reputation if Pinto is seen as some sort of hero. Perhaps a deal has been done but why charge him with 377 more offences just last week.

According to this more comprehensive report Pinto is not out of the woods yet. It also seems to imply he has admitted trying to extort money. So perhaps it is a guilty plea in exchange for a lighter sentence or subsequent pardon. It's not clear what is happening. He is still facing 377 more charges.

very interesting but doubt if it will ever see the light of day. We can't possibly have the red tops scrutinised and the authorities applying the rules equitably. Better to ignore it and double their efforts to nail the cheating oil club!
