Yes not bad :)43. Nobody to take me as a kid. Blackpool Home in 1998 was my first match. Some start, hey?
I’ve often said that anything above that experience was a bonus. A City mad friend got me in to it and I went from there.Yes not bad :)
Correct. It felt like home to me ,every two weeks.i caught the last 6 years of Maine Road with the Kippax terrace.as an out of town Blue I just felt very much at home.sounds wierd, but was perfectly natural to me.i was made welcome. That short time of 1987/88 season ,to the final day..I have to say were the best experiencesof my life.id followed City from afar as a kid.standing on that terrace meant so much to me.i absolutely loved it.and the passion the noise, the crack when it wasn't a big game or not on it was brilliant.....when it was a big game ,you knew about it.When the half decent Liverpool team turned up in the late 80s one Tuesday night, you could feel it in the air we were having em.The atmosphere was incredible, electric,David White was up for it.The whole team was up for it.The kippax was ready, the whole ground was Bouncing...We beat them 2-1. Thought the roof was gonna come off after the 2nd goal. Can still feel the buzz on that one all these years later. You could never replace the sound of coins thrown by the opposition rebounding off the rafters just before hitting you on the head or the warm spray of bottled piss thrown and shattering in the rafters.
It was my home from the day I started watching City until the day it was pulled down.
The greatest standing area ever in my opinion.
It never ends….Must be a lot of windows!
thatcher.I still don't know why it had to be knocked down.it was everything to me.i miss it to this day.
Yeah I knew Thatcher was behind it and my question really was one of despair..ie why did something so great have to come to an end.why ? More a feeling of despair really.thatcher.
Football fans joined together (possibly for the first time) and defeated her ridiculous ID Card for football fans scheme.
The Taylor Report then gave her the opportunity she was looking for to get revenge for her humiliating ID card defeat.
Typical balmy summer's day, typical 1st home match of the season August. Optimism is high.30k loyal fans ..43. Nobody to take me as a kid. Blackpool Home in 1998 was my first match. Some start, hey?

.for some reason I was in the Main Stand that day.3nil I think.
As was I. On the train up from Hereford, some lads got on at maybe Crewe in the new away shirt that we won the play offs in. I’d never seen it before and was, um, fascinated by the design.Typical balmy summer's day, typical 1st home match of the season August. Optimism is high.30k loyal fans ..

re reading this thread now we're in 30 years not 29, and there I am posting a year ago today!I was there... i cried. And if you'dve told me that only 9 years later we'd say bye to all of Maine Road i'd never have believed you.
Cracking picture of me and my mum and sister stood on the kippax corner as leaving - my sister with a scowl, me with a resigned half smile, and mum with Brian May perm.
We always stood first barrier - where new Kippax BBL and East stand 102 is now.
The old girl was never the same after that day. That fucking tiny shite thing they put in its place was a total waste of money, just like that egg box called the umbro stand. Small time mentality from what was still was a big club(I'd say massive but I won't :)re reading this thread now we're in 30 years not 29, and there I am posting a year ago today!
Oh for it to be a year ago never mind 30 years. Remember that day like clockwork, and still got the last stand t shirts.
Never post my face here, but you know what if I find the picture I'm talking about I'll post it later today. To raise a glass to the past, to memories, and the people we stood with that made the kippax our home.
Yup. Me too. Loved it there. Players said it was amazing to hear the sound rolling down the line as the ball progressed there.Great photos mate, lots of memories,it was my second home for about twenty five years.
