Cashless society

The self-service tills at Asda are part cash and card part card only. A man who waited for a cash till was quite, um, big and pretty much blocked the way so nobody who wanted to pay with a card could get past him. He was asked several times and just answered with “I’m waiting for a cash till.”

Those of us who use the convenience and simplicity of a card machine are almost being bullied by aggressive cash users now. That’s how bad it’s getting.

Just shove the **** out of the way and call him a **** while doing it.

Times move on FFS! Have you not seen sci fi films? No cash and no personalised transport! I bet the barters were going apeshit when money was introduced !

I'm pro cashless but fuck me that sounds like a story from the Daily Sport.

Before electronic transfer of money became the norm, large sums of money, hundreds of millions at a time, was transferred around the City of London using paper Bearer bonds (payable to the bearer!). The bonds were in briefcases carried by a single ordinary person who walked about the City transferring the bonds between institutions.
Unbelievably this had been the practise for a very long time (with no security!), the practice was finally stopped after the worlds (at the time) biggest heist £291m, occurred after a case of courier dropping some bonds that were returned by a member of the public made the news, and alerted the criminal world to the possibilities… as nothing was changed in the bonds movement!

Future heist movies featuring retired bank robbers coming back for “one last job” struggling to get into bank vaults as they can’t figure out how RFID keyless entry on Apple Wallet works.

If you still doubt me, why does a secret ballot card have a unique number on it?

So that in the very rare case of a serious issue arising the High Court can order a detailed examination of the ballot. To attempt to link a vote to you without a court order is a serious offence.

Of course, when you are foolish enough to vote in a government that shows its contempt for the rule of law on an almost daily basis, there are some grounds for paranoia. That is why the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary are the foundation stones of freedom. Once they are gone, we are all fucked.

I think we will have to agree to disagree.
