Arsenal (A) | Community Shield | Post-match Thread

The BBC feed is quite amusing when you see the sheer volume of thumbs ups for any comment that's bad for City. Good to see the red hordes are hurting so much that they have to spam the likes just when City lose a preseason friendly. Any opportunity is something to grasp at I guess. Hope the players are getting the siege mentality going to destroy them all again this season.

Top goal by Palmer that deserved to be the winner and a good start by Kovacic. Foden was great when he came on, made the goal. Second half we controlled the game and they got a fluke. KDB was excellent and great to see him back. of course we wanted to win but I will take that big bad bastard of a treble any fucking day. Can’t wait for Burnley, let’s make it four in a row and then down to Wembley to defend old big ears. Come on City!

Full of half n' half scarf day trippers i bet

If thats the future of following City Im out.Fucking awful, it really was.

Sure some of the newbies have the best intention but Jesus, few proper Blues tried but pissing in the wind.

We are United/Arsenal/Liverpool now but play in Blue.

I just watched the post-match interview by Pep, Boy he is spitting feathers about losing the shield hahaha
The media are clowns asking questions about what it means to lose today, Fuck me it's a friendly game and nothing else, Pep sort of hit back with the jokes about losing 3 finals and winning 3 premier league titles

Pep knows his onions and that hunger and passion is even stronger, we will be alright mark my words

Loved to win? Nah, that’s overstated. Would have been mildly nice to win. Was mildly irritating to lose. Unlike us to lose a match that late on. Very rarely happens. But hey, there’s no legislating for a big deflection. And poor penalty taking’s nothing new in this team. Although I thought it had been ironed out. Probably will be in the next few weeks.
We’re slowish starters. We know what happens later on.
I'd of much preferred that we lost by let's say 3 nil than in the way than what we did but hey that's football.

I’d say a transitional season(s) is when you make huge changes, we haven’t done that and are still early in our fitness due to a very, very long season that led to a Treble, including our first CL.

Today was nothing more than a friendly and although we wanted to win, certain things led to a loss.

We may go on to win something, we may go on to lose, just try to enjoy a Treble winning team trying to achieve such a magnificent achievement, on the trot.
Fully agree. My expectations are surprisingly low & im just going to appreciate pep & the team this season

Cardiff City away 2013/14... Never take promoted teams for granted.

Vinny will have Burnley chomping at the bit for this one.
Unfortunately every team we play will be the same , they will all want to beat the best team in europe and in December the best team in the world , its a backhanded compliment when the Goons are celebrating like they are it puts things into perspective. Today was a day out and a stroll in the sun for us and a good 90 minutes to get some fitness in the legs , for the Goons its a scalp and desperately needed boost to their pre-season optimism.
But your right about promoted teams , you do not want to play them early in the season when they are full of expectation they can be dangerous opponents

I'm not exactly upset since the goal they scored was a fluke deflection. Do think it'd've been a different outcome had Foden started... Just MO that Alvarez doesn't play his best with Erling on as well. Not sure I can be arsed to analyze given how little this means but do think we're at least one solid attacking player away from making up the squad numbers even if today's Palmer isn't just a one off.
Meh.

At Maine Road we used to taunt rags with "you're the pride of Singapore". Nowadays we are. And the pride of outer Mongolia and Uzbekistan... It's the pice of success I'm afraid.
