Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

Hi all. Sorry for the delay in sharing this more widely.

Hopefully the link works for everyone. Let me know if it doesn't.

By way of an update, the club have confirmed that they have sent the report to UEFA.

Alex I have just read this report fully. I don’t know what you do for a job, but the content and organisation of this document is stunning; I dread to think how long it took you to produce this, it is brilliant.

The fact that you had to do this, presumably unpaid, and we have thousands of paid employees (some of them VERY highly paid) is frankly disgusting. I regularly hear what a great bloke Danny Wilson is but where is the report from him and his team? There hasn’t even been any real acknowledgment from our club of any of the huge issues faced by over 20k Blues. Disgusting. Also has Kevin Parker produced any kind of proper response from the OSC?

I hope you send this report to all the MP’s in the Greater Manchester area and I hope at least one of these raises our issues in Parliament and in the media.

This document Alex is the single best and most professional thing I have ever seen on Bluemoon and you have my total respect.

Absolutely 100% agree.

My sons experience in the Stadium is worth noting. He went to get some drinks at the start of the secod half and handed over his bank card for payment. The chap went away briefly then returned and said the card machine was not working so he needed cash. My son had none so rang his friend in the seats and asked him to bring some. He then asked the chap for his card back, the bloke denied all knowledge of having it. Other City fans backed my son up as they had witnessed him hand it over, things started to get ugly and was about to kick off when my sons friend arrived. He just pushed passed the people serving and rummaged around on the counter behind and found the bank card pushed under other items. Most Turkish people he encountered were friendly and helpful but those serving food and drinks in the stadium were basically criminals.

Just seen this in one of the other threads. Travel hundreds of miles and end up with a view like that. View attachment 87870
The people behind the goals lower down would have struggled for a clear view with all those remote cameras on that podium in front of them. Keep booing chaps.

Could explain why quite a lot stood watching from the concourse behind us. But that is ridiculous. I knew there were some tickets sold as restricted view but assumed it was the bottom rows. I know there are grounds 100 years old with pillars and stuff in the way but who the f**k build a stadium like that these days.

I’d like to have thought that Danny Wilson, Mr Khaldoon, Brian Marwood etc etc was our man. I love our club, I am 64 and it’s the irrational love of my fucking life but I think the contempt they have shown us over this issue is sickening. We are ordinary people who over the decades have shown extraordinary loyalty and I think we should have been entitled to expect some proper support from City. I am amazed at the lack of empathy

Agreed…..fucking disgrace mate.

Just heading back from Stadium Australia having watched the Australian Women’s Team knock out the Danish.
Took all of 10 minutes from leaving the 75784 crowd to getting into the bus queue and another 5 to get on the bus back into Sydney town centre.
Lighting everywhere, loads of stewards, all clued up , shouting out where the buses are going, where to queue up along low level fencing, level solid concrete surfacing, counting how many people got on, sending the buses straight off in dedicated lanes once they are full, and then dealing with the next set of supporters in the queue.
No chaos no carnage no leaving the most vulnerable to their own devices.

That UEFA is how you organise a safe and secure exit from a major sporting event so maybe take some lessons from the way the Aussies organise this stuff and stop telling us you will learn lessons from your own corrupt inept self serving pious and impotent set of numpties.

Alas Turkey definitely ain't Australia, Turkey and organisation don't happen.:-(

When do we expect to get a reaction from UEFA or City to this report? Where is it being considered?

We'll get s reaction in Athens when after the final whistle City fans will be held behind until the car/bus park is cleared thus we will be able leave the Stadium without any fuss!

The thing is , that is exactly what we should expect. As far as I’m concerned is nothing to do with the hosting country. Accountability for what happened in Istanbul lies solely with UEFA. They MUST have known that the travel infrastructure to and from the Ataturk stadium was not fit for purpose. I still can’t get my head round nothing being done about the way we were treated getting to and from that game. It was utterly inhumane.
