United Thread - 2023/24

I have never seen Mount as anything other than an average player, so the fact they paid £60 million (or whatever it was) for him amuses me no end. £10-£15 million might have been closer to his real value, so anything over that is, in my view, poor business from the rags. Fair play to Chelsea, getting a fee like that, but I think the vermin have been royally shafted over a player - once again.

And they reckon we're obsessed with them!
Thats quite an interesting thread tbh, some rational thoughts and a fair few recognising that we haven't spent billions more than them, just that we've spent well and they haven't.

Still plenty of dickheads referring to "state owned" and "cheating club" though

People seem to think I posted the link to the thread on the caff because I disagree with it. Which isn't the case. There's a lot of sense on the thread, which is surprising. I posted it to highlight their seeming obsession with is, something they accuse us of.

And yes; I can see the irony of me posting said thread!

They just can’t shift him. And I suppose you can't blame him. Engaging devil's advocate mode here; if a player has a legally binding contract for, say, 100k a week (5.2m a year), with two years left on the deal, and the club wants to sell him; why should he settle for half that figure? It's not his choice to go, after all.

Now, I understand that in a lot of these cases, a compromise is usually reached between the player and his employer. But it seems Harold is, like the lady, not for turning.

Never mind the club can't shift him. He's not great at shifting himself. There's definitely a lack of movement where Harry is concerned.

And the frustrating thing is you'd already be a lot closer to seeing all that you wish for if it wasn't for thing... PGMOL.
This for me is better, its purgatory. Watching City, constantly winning while they're over paying for average players.

As painful as the '90s were, we were nowhere near them & it would have hurt so much more if we told ourselves we were challenging with them. Instead we were concentrating more on getting 40 points or what fuck up was next round the corner.

Already had a rag mate saying they should sack Ten Bob! Says he has no idea what system to play if any and players he’s brought in are crap, love it.
Peps 1st season here & when it was going pear shaped he stuck to his principles, 4-0 at Everton, compared to Ten Bob who shat himself after the 6-3 & reverted to the tactics of Ollie
