Fulham (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I'm still fuming about that goal. Gotta feel for the Fulham fans regarding ours.
Yeah, the laws are an ass. They feel like we felt that day.

Its probably not changed the result today, but it certainly didn’t help them.

Marco Silva went full on whinge, where as Pep would have gone 100% sarcasm. “Thank you so much.“

How long did we moan after the Rashford goal? I genuinely can’t remember, but when a team feels totally wronged, time doesn’t seem to matter.
There are supposed to be stricter rules this season regarding abusing / arguing with officials .Oliver should have booked every last one of them they acted like spoilt kids , my grandsons U-12 team would never be allowed to act like that , but all Fulham's players reactions do is encourage this type of behaviour further down the football pyramid , it should have been nipped in the bud.

I get what you’re saying, but there has to be some common sense. Oliver probably knew he might have fucked up or been fucked on by VAR.

Why ?

There were about 10 players between Ake and the keeper (pity none of the defenders involved tried actually defending), anyone of them could have distracted the keeper, but when viewed from behind the goal, none did, and he just made a poor save attempt.

Silva needs to stop using the officials to make excuses, and actually worry about what he can sort out, defending set pieces, because that was pretty shite.

Akanji made Leno stutter. It’s 100% offside. The law doesn’t include an offside player changing how a keeper makes a save and needs to be added.

Everyone everywhere is saying it. Even Haaland and Lilo.

Ultimately it didn’t matter, but it was a silly decision for the sport.

What about that soft southern shandy drinker with No.2 on his back , Phil played a ball into the area and he went down like he had been shot , embarrassing, a grown man heads a football and plays dead , give me strength , when the powers that be decide heading footballs will be banned from the game , that is me done with football.

Antonee Robinson would be an absolutely phenomenal player for us, shame there's no space for him in our squad.

Rodri way off it, giving the ball away multiple times but can forgive him for having an off day considering how consistent he is for us.

Foden growing into the player everyone knows he'll be and looks incredible on that half turn into space.

Good cameo's from Bobb, Gomez, Phillips.

Doku showed promise but the performance was probably what we'd expect from his first start.

Can we have Carlinhos Brown outside West Reception every game, very enjoyable.
If Robinson can move over to the right side he could be the heir to Walker...

Silva is an arsehole but I'd have been livid had we conceded that goal.

I think there’s quite a bit of the feeling that we’ve been shat on before so we deserve this today, rather than just saying these similar decisions are simply wrong.

Had Fulham scored Ake’s goal, the VAR and referee threads would be apoplectic with rage tonight.

Thees ees a football on partisan social media boards.

Awful show first half. Better 2nd half. Considering we are way below par 12pts from 12 isn't too bad. We will have to up our gears for the big teams.

No United fan has anything to say to me about the offside rule today. Not unless they're willing to petition to the PGMOL to overturn last season's result at the swamp.

I agree that Akanji was interfering with play in my eyes but seeing rags of all people bang on about it is laughable after they stayed quiet earlier this year. If anything City should be able to point to that game as evidence.

Some other thoughts -
- Great cameo from Gomez and great assist. Maybe there is a place in the squad for him now we've basically moved on from full-backs?
- Phil great again in the middle/right hybrid role.
- Doku was good IMO under the circumstances. Let the poor kid meet his manager in person before judging him.
- I don't expect Erling to stay here until he retires, but if he did, I reckon he would not only break Shearer's PL goal record, but also set a record that would literally never be broken again.

I stopped giving a fuck about the odd decision we get in our favour, compared to the many we don't that we should, quite a long time ago.

As usual today, oliver gave most tackles by us as fouls, and almost all of their fouls as "fair".

Interestingly, I watched oliver after he gave the goal, he clearly spoke to the assistant, and the assistant gave a confident thumbs up, it was only at the half way line, that he decided to involve var, and they obviously looked, and still gave it.

For me it's very shit defending and not great keeping, I think we had 3 players, and they 7 defenders between Ake and the keeper, Silva should be looking at that for me.

I agree also they were had done by on that decision. If that was against us we would have been pissed off rotten. Blatant interference.

That’s fair enough. You can feel that way and I can empathise with it.

Stopping giving a fuck how good decisions are kinda negates how valid your opinion is.

A goal can still be unjust, even with shit defending.

Called the hattrick in the pre-match thread.

Whatever the tactics were supposed to be first half didnt work in the slightest and we were very lucky with the offside goal.

Fulham probably the best team we have played so far this season so to hammer them is a worrying sign for our rivals.
Spot on with that assessment.

Anybody moaning and feeling sorry for the Fulham fans about it being a poor goal for the 2nd goal needs to know it was the officials who fucked up and played by the rule book, you can be offside if you don't touch the ball and when Ake headed the ball the keeper could fully see the ball, so it's not interfering because the clear line of sight,

Yes, the rules are not clear about interfering and blocking the line of vision of the keeper, Does it stop the keeper from diving and interfering after Ake headed it NO, sorry move on because we have had our fair share of dodgy VARS and some have even been game changers
