United Thread - 2023/24

He probably is a decent manager but he needs to put his stamp on things but he's not allowed to. Everything at United is about doing things the United way and not the manager's way. The United way though basically comes down to how 12 years ago a bully boy used fear to run the club from the bottom up.

Since then the money parasites at the top have taken the club for everything it's worth and they aren't really arsed about getting a manager in who will fight back. Mourinho was the closest but Mourinho lives for Mourinho and he just self-destructed as he usually does at big clubs.

When you compare all of this to City and Pep, everything about City is run according to Pep, literally everything. I wouldn't be surprised if the bog cleaners are playing out from the back.
What makes you say he's probably a good manager.
I'd argue he's probably not.
He's average at best.
And he will be an unemployed manager by January.

They really thought they turned the corner and the fixtures were easy until they played City. ETH is sussed already, and until he change them drastically, they're not going to finish any higher than 6th.
Talksport had the next 5 games down as wins prior to this game.

Good to see they're off to a good start.

He doesn’t have his own philosophy, or isn’t confident enough to implement it.

At Munich, Pep instilled his philosophy on him.

At Ajax, their own Cruyff led club philosophy allowed Ten Haag to succeed without changing tactics.

This is the first club where he has carte blanche and he’s failing. He doesn’t know which players to buy to implement his own style and has simply decided to buy players he liked when he managed in Holland.

He doesn’t command the respect of the dressing room and doesn’t mind throwing players under the bus. (Unless they’re accused of assault, both sexual and domestic.) He even played Quincy Promise when he was accused of attempted murder.

The bloke has no morals and little more tactical nous.
