Wolves PL (A) | Post Match Discussion

A proper smash and grab, they did fuck all but be aggresive and time waste.

we were no terrible, but showed a soft underbelly and lack of strength

However Kovacic and foden were piss weak and bullied all game, unless he asked taking nunes off was a poor decision that only made us look weaker

Doku, great on the ball but he needs to support his fullback when out of possesion the first goal wouldn't happen if he tracked back.

Finally our fans haave forgotten we don't always win, some right moany fuckers stood round me
A lot of people digging out Ake but is there seriously no recognition of how he is supported by Jack when they're on the pitch together? They play well together, with Jack often popping up to help out Ake, and today that didn't happen. Jack gets far too little appreciation for what he does defensively.

It wasn’t a fluke that we were hopelessly exposed on the left every time the ball broke in midfield… Ake needed cover and the continuance of giving it to Doku to run at the defender (who had an excellent game) and lose possession to invite those attacks on was madness

Unfortunately Pep got it very wrong today
Yet if a couple of our attempts had gone in and they hadn't fluked theirs the tone on here would have been completely different.
Very few goals are "worldies" , many are more luck than judgement, that's how the game is. All this is, is the same old embarrassing garbage that comes out every time we lose a match.

Maybe so for the goals there was nothing any winger could have done to help. Foden certainly could have helped on the first but fair play to Neto he had Ake on toast and that’s very unusual

That is a good point.....he is good as a team player.

We have very few clear cut chances today - credit to Wolves they setup exceedingly well and defended superbly

When you concede two goals from near identical circumstances that is not a fluke. Pep’s human - he got it wrong today - no drama

i was surprised at the amount of times kovacic gave the ball away today, very unlike him
Yes, felt that with him and Nunes today.
That said, Wolves were playing like a team possessed. You could just tell. I don’t know if it was Nunes-related, but their energy levels and desire today reminded me of “peak” liverpool at their ground from a few years back.

Pep needs to come up with a solution quick to cover Rodri's absence cos if we go with that team next week we're definitely getting dicked

Tracked back ? Usain Bolt with rocket burners stitched to his arse wouldn't have been quick enough to catch Neto from where Doku was when Kovacic's pass unitentionally hit Foden from about a yard away and allowed Wolves to counter on us when we were camped in their half. Ake couldn't deal with Neto's pace and Dias turned it into his own net from the cross. No blame can be attached Doku for that goal.
Never blamed him

Postitionally as soo nas we lose posetion pur forwards always drop backvto support defence/midfield.

I was in eyeline when Ake got turned near the half way line, a winger coming back once we lost possesion would have been overlapping and Netto would have been less cavalier, not blaming Doku, but in Peps team when out of possesion you bust a gut to get into positions to win it back.

too many didn't do that today tbf.

Not saying this is always the case but a lot of stray passes in the last few games (from all players, not just Kova) seemed to be a shared responsibility. Like the receiver is also not ready or anticipating. The injuries have forced very inconsistent line ups. And obviously having players that can play multiple positions is great, but I think maybe it can also become a liability. I still think a lot of players are playing a new position, or one they play less frequently. Even the back line, which is strong in most formations, feels like it could benefit from more consistency. If nothing else, it allows the link ups on the side to strengthen.
