We got very fortunate last season that the only attacking player we had absent for any amount of time all season was Foden with an injury, then appendicitis, then an operation and recovery from that and then another knock again.Absolutely no sympathy for Pep. It’s his decision to run with the league’s smallest squad despite us being in 7 competitions this season. Everyone knew this was going to happen.
HahahahhaHe fucking hates Man united apparently.
He’s coming home. He’ll be back soon I’m sure of it. Then we’ll see some fireworks and some hard work.Calling @Eccles Blue to the thread.
The small squad might affect us but the club went to great lengths to get best medical team. This was an interesting article I read about behind the scenes. We got very fortunate last season that the only attacking player we had absent for any amount of time all season was Foden with an injury, then appendicitis, then an operation and recovery from that and then another knock again.
This season already, it’s been one after the other after the other.
If that carries on, every trophy we are fighting for becomes more difficult to win.
The teams who win trophies are usually the teams who have the least injuries or the teams who can cope with having injuries through having a deeper squad.
I can see why Pep likes a small squad who play all the time (at Barça he barely ever rotated anyone! he had a bigger squad before we bought Doku and Nunes at City this Summer than he used to have at Barça) because it builds form and consistency and with that, if they stay fit, it’s more likely they’ll win.
It’s a fine line though because if they do get injuries, the team is impacted massively.
Is it that much smaller than last season really? You could argue we had better quality last season but time may show that the ones we bought in are better than those that left. But in terms of numbers.Absolutely no sympathy for Pep. It’s his decision to run with the league’s smallest squad despite us being in 7 competitions this season. Everyone knew this was going to happen.
To be fair we were very lucky last season with injuries, if we had lost Kev and any other highly experienced players Gundo or Bernie for a few months we wouldnt have won what we did.Is it that much smaller than last season really? You could argue we had better quality last season but time may show that the ones we bought in are better than those that left. But in terms of numbers.
Out
Laporte Gundogan Palmer Mahrez
In
Gvardiol Bobb Kovacic Nunes Doku
What am I missing?
I would love for Stones to be fit to start but seems very unlikely given how long he's been out for... Bernardo pretty sure to start. Of course if Stones gets 30 minutes off the bench tonight there could be a chance to start against ars. Having bernardo and johnny back in starting line-up would strengthen us massively...Stones back for Arsenal and able to move into midfield will hopefully help lessen Rodri’s absence. Silva back too and maybe Saka out for them. Let’s get through tomorrow first but feeling more hopeful.
