I thought he was excellent again. He’s having a great season so far.
massively disagree. he cost us possession a number of times in dangerous areas bu trying too much instead of picking his moment.
the guy has the talent and attributes to have been Messi by now - starting his career on the right and yet 6 seasons in he doesnt score or create enough consistently.
seems harsh because he does play well every other game or two but there shouldn't even be a question of whether or not he is picked for big games - and yet there is for Pep
I've been making the same point for a while, but it always turns into a binary debate with no middle ground
Foden has become a 10 goal a Season PL Midfielder, which for somebody who doesn't take penalties, is absolutely fantastic
However, whereas Messi had arguably become the best player in the world at 23-24, we're still debating Foden's potential,.(or even his best position) as though he's some kind of emerging talent.
There's a common misconception that players don't peak until their late 20s, when the vast majority of world class performers actually hit the ground running at a much earlier age.
Foden really hasn´t made that leap i expected from him for the last few years. He seems to have tools to be really good ,but so often the last shot, last pass or last dribble is unsuccesful and it´s quite frustrating at times.Still have hopes that he will make that next step and truly become one of the best players in the world.I've been making the same point for a while, but it always turns into a binary debate with no middle ground

Disagreed ! foden‘s iq is way higher than ja ja binks can only dream. Foden’s skill and decision making is unmatched tbf.I don't think Palmer has the technical skill of Phil but he certainly showed some balls waiting for ages to take a penalty in the dying seconds. I get the feeling Palmer has a bit more arrogance than Foden.
I wasn't suggesting that Cole is a better player. Just think Foden needs more self belief. He's one of the most talented footballers in the world. He needs to dominate games more consistently. That for me is a mental thing.Disagreed ! foden‘s iq is way higher than ja ja binks can only dream. Foden’s skill and decision making is unmatched tbf.
Self belief? i think his medal cabinet disagrees .I wasn't suggesting that Cole is a better player. Just think Foden needs more self belief. He's one of the most talented footballers in the world. He needs to dominate games more consistently. That for me is a mental thing.
Hi phil foden sr ;)He’s absolutely top quality and we are lucky to have him.
I’d like to think it’s more than his old man who thinks that way or our support has got worse than I thought.Hi phil foden sr ;)
What do we need to judge though? I’ve seen enough to see a player who would walk into any other team in Europe. His only problem bar the odd injury here and there which has held him back, is the fact he’s at the best team in the world and playing every week in your favoured position isn’t a guarantee regardless of your ability. He should be let of his leash and do what he wants for a few games. Then we can judge.

He is on this forum mate, I’ve very seldom heard a city fan in real life give him the kind of criticism you see on here.I feel like foden is often held to a different standard compared to other players. At times unless he gets man of the match displays he will get criticised for something. Yet other players who we spend fortunes on don’t get anywhere near as much criticsm.
He’s been excellent this season. He’s often putting in 7/10 performances or he’s one of the best players on the pitch.
Fair enough, but my point wasn't so much about Messi, as the mythical notion that players gradually improve until they peak at around 28-29, when the really elite performers announce themselves much earlier. To be fair I don’t think it’s fair to compare any player to messi. No one is or has been as good as him.
Again, that isn't necessarily a criticism, but he's now reaching that part of his career where he needs to define his true worth.
It's 100% true and hard to understand as he's one of our own.I feel like foden is often held to a different standard compared to other players.
