Liverpool (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Alvarez has been piss poor this last couple of months but we don't really have an option to replace him with.
He has just returned from Brazil. I think he has played international football in South America more than once this last couple of months. Travelling to the other side of the world must affect him. With no international break until March his form could improve.

Doku is a very clever player about 50% of the time, then the other 50% is frustrating as f*ck. He had the beating of taa every time, yet the number of times he turned round and passed it backwards was very frustrating. He also doesn't try very hard to get the ball back if he loses it (Foden was also very guilty of this today).
Yeah I get the frustration.
He also switches off defensively too.
But it’s early days and he’ll only get better.
I look at an early Mahrez, frustrating, weak defensively and he turned into one hell of a player.
Pep will make him one of the best wingers in the world, assuming he wants it.

That's the big difference between Doku and Grealish. Grealish offers more when we're under pressure and doesn't give the ball away easily. Horses for courses. Liverpool were always going to put more pressure on than the majority of PL opponents.

While I voted Doku as our MOM today, I still believe that Jack would have been a better choice to start the game, and I suspect Pep probably thought the same.

Yes, the club really have become a soft touch, pampering to the Scousers off the pitch.
That announcement pissed me off more than the fucking result. It was so quick, you could imagine an elite team of City chant checkers, fingers poised over the tannoy button, waiting for the slightest hint of a "tragedy chant". Back- slapping each other on a job well done. Fucking joke.

The only disappointment for me was that the whole ground didn't engage with it.

Spineless twats (the club).

Yeah he can be a bit unpredictable but he’s a young kid in an unfamiliar country playing in the most difficult league in the world

The impact he’s made is miles above what anybody expected. Just wait until he settles in and he learns exactly how to play in a pep team

He’s gonna be phenomenal
I don't have a problem with that, but he is very frustrating at times. He makes too many poor decisions, he loves a dribble (as do I), but sometimes he does too much.

I doubt he'd have played today if Grealish had been fit (and I'll be honest I find him equally frustrating), because he doesn't give the ball away softly.

Think everyone else (from what I’ve seen) gave Doku motm.
Sky - scum and dipper tv.
I saw this somewhere too View attachment 99685
Summed both their games up perfectly.
Clear and obvious from the Red top loving Sky.

Says it all when Neville wants a Liverpool win, I thought he was their biggest rival. Then again, he’s an influencer for them and the PL who want to see Liverpool, and the Rags, fighting it out at the top.

Having both him and Carragher on our games is fucking horrendous, but that’d what they have to do to shape the fans opinions.

Very frustrating performance today. Which is strange because I thought for the most part we played very well. We just too often don’t kill games off, whether it’s taking our foot off the gas or conceding soft goals. We had so many chances to put that game to bed, yet we kept letting them back in through slow play or lack of tracking back. I don’t think they were nearly good enough to get a point off us today and that is cemented by their celebrations at the end. Why was our second goal chalked off. I just don’t think it’s a foul. Alison flapped at every cross that came near him and we have every right to challenge for the ball.

Ederson had a very good game, didn’t have too many saves to make but collected a couple of crosses well and his distribution was as good as we’ve ever seen it barring one throw to Foden which didn’t make it. Shame we conceded in the way we did.

As for the trouble in SS3. They were outed somehow, and initially they were told to leave but wouldn’t, that then turned into them being pulled and pushed from their seats which then drew attention from others who filled them in. I stand at the back and didn’t see a steward for ages so they got a good twatting before any help arrived. I’m not saying it’s right, but you know it could happen if you go in the opposition end. We’ve all done it. If you get rumbled you leave or take your chances. I expect a few bans coming up after that but the club have to take some responsibility for allowing away fans in. They know it’s happening, it happens too often for them not to know.

2 points dropped. Better than a loss. Should have been 3. Tough couple of league games coming up too that we can’t afford to lose and I expect a much harder game next Sunday so we’ll need to be at it.

Jack's shithousing would have been a big plus today.

This was a shit football game , we were nowhere near our best , the overall quality of the match was poor , the Dippers offered little and only two of their players would get near our squad , we have been underwhelming so far this season , fully expect us to kick into gear in January , but i am beginning to realise what a massive fuck up it was to let Gundo leave , it is costing us points.

I quite enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty good.

Hats off to these players who do that. Both times I have travelled back from the USA I have been jet lagged for days. I know they are not sat in a cramped seat but it’s still not ideal.

He wasn’t great but the number of games these players are having to play is insane. We expect them to be top notch week in week out but it’s unrealistic.

This fixture was scheduled after an international break for a reason. It’s a leveller and yet we were still the better side.
