I like his style, I can't lie. When the chips were down he was up for difficult things, outclassing, outplaying, out thinking. Both teams screwed it up around their own box. The difference was City kept at it and got better, Everton eventually couldn't live with the pressure. Deep in the second half, Josko is right in that battle, very, very secure with the ball.

Sometimes our defence and Ederson look a class above the attackers. That's crazy. Josko is as good as it gets, in that way.

There's been a bit of an overall net deficiency in our recent teams for technique and creativity. Alvarez's touch and passing. General midfield staffing problems. Walker toning down the attacking a bit. It would flatter Cancelo from a couple of years ago. Or an outright pacy attacking LB with a cross.

Josko clearly isn't that. He's a skilled defender with very good feet and brain.

I'm convinced City are more likely to find another technically gifted pacy attacking RB to cope with Walker coming into his twilight. At that point, Josko could be the ideal player for the left.

Loads, and loads to come from this lad.

Heres a thought now this might be a little crazy. But hear me out. how about we try him at center back ?
Pep knows best but it boggles my mind that akanji gets pushed in to mid when hes crap at it and we have gvardiol playing some lovely football at left back. Hes so calm and composed on the ball ans Its clear he can see and execute the pass.

The guy is quality he just needs to step out of his comfort zone, if he did he could do so much more.

Love watching him play, can’t wait for him to cement his place in the middle of the defence.

If he can thread a pass like that from left back, what is he going to be like playing in central defence when there is so much more space and more angles to choose from? His first touch and control are arguably ahead of any of the other central defenders, maybe the best since Fernandinho played in there, so his development should be fun to watch.

We spent €100m on him because he can play both positions.

If we just needed a CB we could have gotten another Akanji for £15m.

I find it bizarre that people get upset that a player who’s played both positions extensively, was bought because he can play both positions and then gets asked to play one of those positions.

Hes not being asked to play RW FFS.

The one and only reason why he is so harshly criticized on the forum is its price. If he had cost 20 million , everyone would be saying what an extraordinary young player he is.

The lad's 20, comes from another league and doesn't even play the position he was recruited for, and yet he fulfils his role perfectly.

Let's be objective and compare him with Walker, I find him much more interesting in offensive combinations, much stronger technically and in duels, the only point where Walker beats him is speed. So yes, he sometimes has lapses of concentration, but he's 20 years old. He represents the future of the club along with Haaland, Foden, Alvarez; Doku , Bobb, Lewis and I'm more than happy with Txiki's choice.

He gets caught out of position at times, but that's going to come with playing him in a new position. He's still an impressive progressive passer. His ability to comfortably use both feet is impressive.

Thought he was good and solid today, it won't be long before one of his off the ball runs gets him a goal.

Akanji is a better right back than Gvardiol is a left back

He hasn’t really played LB extensively in my opinion- it was really only his first month or two at RBL that he played LB. He played LB more at Dynamo, but I don’t think that’s a comparable level of competition. I agree it’s not like hes being asked to play RW, but I do think it’s probably a steeper learning curve than being asked to play CB (which in a pep system already is a steep learning curve).

He is not perfect as it stands by any means, but I think the sky is the limit for this guy. In a few years, he might be a legitimate contender for the first defender since...Cannavaro (I think) to win Ballon d'Or.

He looks great going forward at LB. Maybe not so much on the defensive side, but games like today are the practice he needs.

I'm happy with where he's at right now.

As for the transfer fee, I'll say what I said for Grealish. Not my money, not my concern.
