When City were singing 'is this the emptyhad' the commentators said something about what the chant meant lol. But got it totally wrong lol
They/He thought it referred to Haaland getting a hat trick away from home…. As all his hat tricks have been at the Etihad. Idiot. Was it Matterface?

I am pretty sure that song originated 2009/10 ish and is based on United fans suggesting we would get relegated after our takeover when we were struggling under Mark Hughes.

Its not playing billy big bollards but mocking a United chant from the past.
And it refers back to ‘typical City’ I.e. only City could have a new billionaire owner with money to burn but still manage to get relegated!

Is Matterface insisting we use their preferred pro-nouns now?

Well I found it boring. Why are we singing about Dzeko ? and too many united songs, that awoooo song is shit oh and why swear and ergh something else but I can't remember.

Well somebody had to moan ! 10 pages of praise, this is Blue moon don't you know. Have all the moaners had a day off ?

Sounded brilliant on the tele, I'm jealous.

It’s always been crap to be fair. It reminds me of the awful fatty Fowler song.
The one about him being a property tycoon ? 'We all live in a Robbie Fowler house' to the tune of Yellow Submarine?
I wonder if any City fans did actually live in a Robbie Fowler house and whether he was a good landlord?.
'Billion in the bank' isn't our best song I agree, but i guess it does have that self deprecating humour that kept us going 'back in the day'.
It certainly was very good vocal support from the away fans the other night.

Wasn’t much else to sing about those days. Even Joey Barton had his own song.

But seriously....
when did we get relegated under a new billionaire owner.

Been going since 1958, and been pissed a lot,but I can't remember this.
We didn't obviously, but we were near the bottom of the table at some point during the first couple of years after the takeover. It was only for a short period and may have been due to us having a game or two in hand; hence the song.
It proved popular at away games and caught on at home.
It may have originally been sung by the deranged gerbils who support our nauseating neighbours.
